Strange sightings

What have I found here? A fresh impact crater? (It is on the side of a volcano. Thermal shift at +0.4)

Thats probably one of the strangest things iv'e seen on this thread, do you have the name of the planet so i can visit it?
Yeah, I think so... hang on a sec, let me have a look...

Address is RS 8474-3401-6-194166-63 4.3. Volcano in question is at -61 degrees, 26 minutes and 10.85 seconds longitude, and -50 degrees, 35 minutes and 13.81 seconds latitude.

Oh... and stock SE 0.9.8.0.
Found it, on closer analysis iv'e figured out that its a terrain anomaly that appears all over the volcano, it just has lava and rock on/in it because its near the top of the volcano.
Ayy Lmao

Oh, I'm sure it is. Volcanoes sometimes do weird things on and around icecaps in S.E. I just think the ripple effects lined up with the lava just right to give the appearance of an impact crater. Come to think of it, might be nice to actually have some in S.E. Something else for Vlad's never-ending list of things to add. :)

Obviously another somewhat-fresh impact crater. :)

Sorry for the message just above, I made a mistake.
My question ;
How do you compare stars from different systems? (First message on page 7, from user JackDole) That's exactly what I'm looking for.
Thank you

Actually, that is not possible.

It is only possible with a custom system that I made some time ago by putting together several known stars in one system.

Thanks for the quick reply! Great system!
I just think that would be a very good idea, really pedagogic. Children (and adults too!) Love to compare the size of stars and planets. That's what I noticed in planetariums and observation centers.

It would be a good thing for Space Engine. We could choose some stars, compare and sort stars by type (O, B, A, F, G, K, M, L, T, Y ... etc) compare the sizes of exoplanets like HD 1000546 and Jupiter .. etc, the planets by types ...

All this for example in a Virtual Box where one would just choose the stars that one wishes to display, without displaying the entire Universe (useless in this case) to relieve the calculations . It would be very educational.

That said, I understand that it is a very difficult job. But it seems to me an interesting idea. You seem to be a confirmed user, do not hesitate to submit this idea to the creator.
Sorry for my bad english.
Thank you very much! ^^

You can make the suggestion in this thread.: General suggestions for SpaceEngine

Another way to compare two stars would be to open two instances of SpaceEngine: The distance to the stars is about 11 AU.

I exported the script for a procedural Terra Moon I liked, put it around a Blue Giant star, and lowered the Sea Levels to nearly zero.
I ended up seeing a Blue Laser line laying across the landscape that acts like a flare, of sorts. It doesn't appear on other planets in the system, but it definitely moves backwards and forwards when I move up and down. I think it is super cool, but don't know how to reproduce the effect. Any ideas on what is happening?

Bloated ice giant (<--- pic and location info can be found here)

Not sure what's going here, but this ice giant has the lowest density I've seen - only 17 kg/m³! It's also far larger than it should be (1.5 jupiter radii) at only 11.6 earth masses. Is it being expanded by the extreme heat here? Or is it just an SE bug?

Yes, these planets are "puffed up" due to heating by their stars, and are known to exist in nature.  For example, HAT-P-67b has a radius of at least 2 Jupiters and a mass no greater than 0.59 Jupiters, which means its density is less than 100kg/m[sup]3[/sup] (and probably closer to 50kg/m[sup]3[/sup]).

Neat! I was kinda expecting they'd have a comet tail too or something though, or a really thick hazy atmosphere layer or something - I guess this one looked a bit too "normal" to me so I wondered if it was bugged.
