Found the ultrabright nebula again as seen in the 3rd picture. I said it was in one of the Magellanic Clouds, yet it was in Hoag's Object. Not even close :P

Address is RN 10410-5112 if anyone's interested. I'm using 0.990

I created this... thing by entering the number 0.5 for every setting in the planet editor.

This is what it looks like from the surface

I created it out of curiosity but inevitably grew attached to it so now it lives on as a comet. It's not the same without the thermal glowing center but it's the least I could do

Shader mods, mainly. It can be found on my Aurea Borealis planet in my TPE Universe mod. I still need to upload the updates for that and my shader mods with my latest changes. This is in 0.980, obviously. :)

I want to ask a question about settings....under display, where you can choose cubemaps, I see an option for setting the resolution of three things.  Mine go all the way up to 4096 and I had it set that way and then I'd go into cubemaps and save cubemap jpgs as 4096.  But I noticed setting them to 1024 is much less laggy and uses less memory (even for normal default window viewing mode) and I can still go into cubemaps and save the images at 4096.  My question is, is there a difference in image quality if I set it to 1024 and then go into cubemaps and save them at 4096 vs setting it at 4096 and doing the same thing?  Also, does this setting make a difference for default normal viewing (in window mode)?

edit- so I found this page

http://spaceengine.org/manual/user-manual/

But it only includes a guide for the Graphics page, nothing for Display.  I did notice one of the three settings I'm wondering about is on there, it is Warp and Refl. Resolution and would it matter if I had it at 4096, 2048, or 1024 in terms of image quality?  My window resolution is 720P and I'm using the Ultra preset but I want to take 4K cubemap screenshots (which also brings into play the other two settings under Display, when Cubemap is selected for projection.  Would it matter if these three are set to 1024, 2048 or 4096 when the Cubemaps screen lets me select screenshot resolution right from there and I can select 4096 even if the value for these settings is set at 1024-- which means much less lag for me)?  And how would the difference impact image quality there and in my regular default view at 720P?

also using this

http://spaceengine.org/manual/making-ad ... -textures/

The resolution of cubemap faces is calculated as a quarter of the width of the original texture, rounded up to the nearest power of 2. For example if the original texture resolution is 86400 x 43200, it will give the resolution of each face of 32768 x 32768 (131072/4).
