Quick question, in the Magnitude/Brightness menu (F7), by default the Models Lighting value for Galaxies is set to 4. Does that mean the actual/real perceived brightness is 1?

In general, what do you guys do to make things as real as possible?

I was talking about pretty much the same thing not long ago, but I was asking if it could be a feature that made things more realistic.
by default the Models Lighting value for Galaxies is set to 4.
By default it's set to 7000 or 7 like the stars, you might have tinkered with some of the stuff a little bit. ;)

Nope, he's right. The value he's referring to (Models lighting for Galaxies) it's 4 by default.

Yeah, I thought he said about the apparent magnitude not the brightness, sorry.

Why is the Moon barely visible from Earth ?!

Is this what the moon looks like on a cloudless night to you?

try a narrower FOV. The human eye although has a wide FOV, the detailed part of the vision is very narrow. This gives things that are directly observed a larger perception than actual angular size.

Looks the same to me in real life expect maybe the sky is a little darker in SE. Though with my monitor switched to DCR mode it's almost spot on.  Real HDR would make it right.

On my screen a 13º FOV looks true to real life in the center part of my vision.

in your SE installation folder there's a docs/readme_eng.txt file with a list of key controls.
Shift + left drag ---------- change field of view (zoom)
PgUp ----------------------- decrease field of view (zoom in)
PgDn ----------------------- increase field of view (zoom out)
Home, Middle click --------- return to standard or previous field of view

Are you guys going to create volumetric clouds on planets like Jupiter, and the rings on Saturn,
using the same method that is used for the Nebula cloudlike formations?
