Does this include global climate-change events caused by atmospheric/stellar activity like ice-ages and "Snow-ball Earth" events?
(As an aside, the above examples I gave would really be only viable for Earth-like worlds. Non-Earthly planetary environments would have other, perhaps not too dissimilar, global changes due to differences in their relative intrinsic properties).
