SpaceEngine 0.990 Release

I will say one thing, there is an object that hurtles through the galaxy independent of anything else called S111, originating in the Sagittarius A* system. Goes in a straight line out of the system and the galaxy, or it would, but time stops at 31/12/999999 at exactly 12 o'clock. It's weird.

After having issues at first with the texture compression, I got around that by disabling it.   So far apart from that it's been awesome!

Absolutely love the auto exposure feature.

There seems to be a difficulty generating textures for stars and planets after I downloaded the new version. How to fix?

Just downloaded, looks fantastic!  Awesome in VR, thanks for the great control on the Oculus Rift Touch Controllers, very intuitive.  Nebulae look amazing, and the nebula editor is great.

SpaceEngine 0.990 Release

I understand why it needs to be paid for. I just remembered the dev saying that it would always be free.

Where did he said that? I do remember that it was said that SpaceEngine 0.980 and previous versions will always be free, that a "Planetarium" only version will probably be, but the development of the engine is nowhere near completeness, and funds are needed for that.

Extremely disappointed that it's a paid-for game now.

SpaceEngine 0.990 Release

11 Jun 2019 14:47

I just went to fish eye mode then enabled distorted interfaces. Now all the interfaces are gone and I've virtually bricked the game within 2 hours of play time which I've never done with anything else. Please can you tell me how to reset the display settings? I'm kind of frustrated that this feature wasn't checked before release, but at the same time I know how easy it is to forget stuff when you're managing a program of this scale.

Update: Found the config file that contains the projection settings, manually changed it to default. Works now.

SpaceEngine 0.990 Release

11 Jun 2019 17:30

I've spent a few hours in 0990. I'm really impressed! I had a bad framerate with the default graphics settings but after some tweaking it's running smoothly. SE looks and runs great.

I have a suggestion for adding extra functionality for VR controllers. There aren't enough buttons on the Oculus Touch controllers (and for all VR controllers I imagine) to do everything I want to do. There's not enough room for the wiki, system chart, universe map, etc. I think there should be a wheel listing all the menus that pops up when you press the joystick on the Touch controller, for example. Universe Sandbox 2 does something similar to this. You can choose a function by tilting the joystick toward an option and pressing it again. Perhaps it could be customizable.
Also, I couldn't figure how to "zoom with VR controller." I tried many different motions while pressing the assigned button but the scale hovers around the same value. Anyone figured it out?
I like cute pokemon and space games.
