Gamma correction for planet textures: parameter in catalog scripts and slider in the editor

Is this only applied on an individual basis? After having played around in .990 for some time, I noticed some quirks that I suspect can be attributed to imperfect handling of gamma. For instance, constellation lines with MSAA turned on become a tad bit darker, and some visible "blobs" in the lines emerge. Also, distant and faint stars, without the star desaturation slider turned up to compensate, also seem to gradually saturate as they get dimmer, consistent with the effects of gamma-space rendering. By turning up the in-game gamma slider to 2, some of these quirks appeared to vanish (at the price of ending up with washed out visuals), further corroborating my suspicion.

This is terrific news!  So, for instance, if I want to install all of JackDole's add-ons at once, I can now do so?

I also already like HarbingerDawn's "E-Wing Cockpit"- can I use that as the default view for all my videos flying above a planetary landscape or in outer space?

Well, we should wait until JackDole upload them to workshop. And I assume that you have to subscribe every of them one by one.

If HarbingerDawn didn't change file names, SE will load the most recent ones (from the workshop folder). I suggest to delete his old addon from the addons folder and use the workshop's one, because that version may be updated sometimes.

Vladimir since you are here, I was wondering if a small addition could be made to the program to show compass points, so one can tell what direction they are moving on a planet.  (N,S,E,W).  Or alternatively, you could just make a small compass in the corner of the screen with a pointer showing what direction movement was occurring in.   In addition to that, HD could add a compass to his cockpit to show the direction of flight with a pointer.

...so no new updates on Steam Workshop, or new 0.990 updates?

Alright, I'm here to offer a few possible updates of star/planet classification.

Planet updates:

Neptune class subdivision depending on composition:

Hydrogenic neptune - Uranus/Neptune analog.
Volatile neptune - neptune forming of aquaria, whichs mass is *percentage enough to cover entire land with deep oceans*% - 25% volatiles. Examples: CoRoT-7 c, Kepler-10 b.
Supervolatile neptune - volatile neptune, whichs mass is more than 25% volatiles.

Venus-like clouds on neptunes with mass <1 M - 7M

Coreless planets classes introduction:

I'd like to return the class "Selena" as one referring to a silicate planet with no core and so the magnetic field. There would also be a "Carbena" planet, a selena with carbide mantle.

Star updates:

Gas giant clouds on all planemos, brown dwarfs, main sequence stars, subdwarfs and white dwarfs with mass lower than the hydrogen burning limit due to their sub-stellar/planetary nature.
White holes and blue dwarfs introduction for sci-fi addons.
More white dwarf classes.

I'm not seeing an update yet. Steam is set to auto-update but I'm still at 0.990.39
Do I just need to patiently wait or is there something I can do to to trigger it?

The update is so far only in the official beta branch.
To get it, you have to go to the properties and select 'beta - public beta branch' from the 'BETAS' page.

Steam didn't update mine even with auto updates on, had to manually apply the update in the downloads section.  Maybe that could also be your problem?
