Also I had and still have the problem that the terrain on every planet doesn't load.
Is this happening only on Solar System planets (which is normal) or also on procedural planets? What kind of video card does your computer have?

Any news about when the new update will be ready?
If there were any news, it would be posted in the work progress thread and/or news section of the website.
Also I had and still have the problem that the terrain on every planet doesn't load. It's just flat everywhere and I couldn't figure it out, how to fix it. I really spent hours on this forum, searched on google and watched youtube videos about this problem. Nothing helped.
Go to the troubleshooting thread and make a post there, including your log file.

May I have a small question? The game is nice and I'd like to buy it, and I fully understand the need of a DRM thing. I have a Steam account and bought some games before. Is the 0.990 game can launch via Steam Offline mode? My internet connection is not stable. Alttough I can log on to Steam most of the time. When my connection is out a can play some of the game that I bought on Steam by "login" via offline mode. Will SpaceEngine 0.990 run?

Will SpaceEngine 0.990 run?
Once installed and if there are no pending updates, SE doesn't need an active connection so it can be used in offline mode.

At this point it's been sooooo long for us "plebs" that there should be some sort of open 9.9.0 beta for the rest of us to enjoy ffs. Like seriously just release what you have at this point as an open beta for the Space Engine fans that aren't in the "inner circle"... IE the "elitism" enjoyed by some in this community is down right obnoxious to the rest of us and that isn't a good business model if you want to get more donations, support and money for all this work. I would straight donate $100 if you take this seriously and release an open beta, and not just giving me a beta key
As my opinion First and foremost, define what means “Success” for your business model. That clarifies you the purpose of preparing one. So I think this can be a good business model overall. I got my clue on

What about making another model for minineptunes (3 - 5 earth masses water planet with a hydrogen layer). Instead of the same cloud look as gas/ice giants. I suppose it should look like a cloudy layer more or less similar to Venus' clouds. I mean a sort of a foggy grey sphere wrapped around the water planet. As you might already know, gaseous/water worlds form at the farther part of the protoplanetary disk, where ices, H2 and He are located. If there are no large bodies, giants can travel closer to a star and when they do it way too much they simply get puffy. Their atmosphere looses mass because of intense solar winds. First, the hydrogen is lost and is helium. Later it all goes to the point of the complete loss of atmospheric layer. The only what is left behind is a dense superfluid water core (500 - 600 C) with silicate-some innards. This is a chtonian class planet. The point is that the atmosphere must be completely lost after getting to the methane stage of atmospheric evaporation. But some things I find are freaking out...

Nice to see that the new version is going to be released soon. Any information regarding compatibility with Proton? Would like to hear more about this as a non-Windows user. Thanks!

In 0.990, is it possible for astrophysical jets to be non-perpendicular to the accretion disc because the magnetic axis isn't aligned to the rotation axis? Like this:

As far as I know no one has tested it. But the few times in the past that I tried running SE using Wine, it always worked perfectly, so there's a good chance that it would. I'd have to install a Linux distro to test.

No

These types of jets don't depend on the magnetic field. It's matter forced up or down from the accretion disk.

See the discussion I had last year in the Science and Astronomy board.

Also, HarbingerDawn mentioned on his stream that there were new models for the Magellanic Clouds. Are they cylindrical mapped or cube mapped? Do they still look this flat when seen from galactic north?:

Yes, they are still relatively flat.
