I did not say that. I have said:

How ROUGH estimated do you want it?
Maybe it will appear in 2018. Maybe only in 2019.
Or it will appear still later.

Note this:

Noted Jack!
I'm good when it comes to Physics, Algebra, Relativity, Space, and SpaceEngine. But I could still use a LOT of help on the things I still don't know. So I hope I get a lot of help on how all that works, here!

When it's finished I will gladly host it on my seedbox! I've been hosting SE-0980-Setup.exe since July of 2016 and it's just passed the 1.5TB upload mark! Me and my family absolutely love this program!

You mean 1.5GB?

Nope, 1.5TB. I've seeded it long enough for 1500+ people to download their own copies of it. :)

It's not a huge contribution to the cause, but I do want to make sure that anyone who wants a copy of it can use my torrent hosted on my high speed Seedbox to get it much faster than other download methods.

Space engine 0.9.9.0, to be released 2153!

I do appreciate the work into this, though.

Actually it will be 2154, to tribute the best James Cameron movie ever. *Nods*

What about moderators and se team members?

Probably the same deal.

It's apparently not, to become a moderator you need to "prove yourself" as one, but for the lather, yeah. :)

You would need to prove yourself without a doubt, but you would probably only apply when the community is in need of mods etc.

It's really rare when someone becomes a moderator in here. Last time someone was promoted was back in December, and those people were Mosfet, FFT (I think he was promoted in that time) and me. The reason was because of so called "bot wars". We had a lot of spam from the bots, so the community was in need of more mods. The spamming stopped eventually and everything was back to normal.
For now, it's calm and someone would really need to prove himself to become one :)

Will 0.980 shader mods still be compatible with 0.990?

I think not, the two versions has completely different shaders.

Work progress 0.9.9.0

Maybe it can be released a little earlier. I mean, while I do appreciate almost two years of development, maybe it would me smarter to do a quiet release of this version then make a patch finishing everything up with all the other touches.

Work progress 0.9.9.0

It sounds nice to do that, but look at it from a dev perspective:

You have all this hype for your game, you've had to juggle working on your game with other commitments including irl events or relationships. You know you dont want to disappoint your players, but at the same time you want to release it just as much as they want it. You avoid release dates because they only serve to break hearts, be they unfixed bugs that would have been fixed had it been later, or unfinished features/locales, or even overshooting it and releasing it months after the posted date because something kept going wrong during development.

With just as much hype for SpaceEngine 0.990, do you really want to risk upsetting the vast majority of your playerbase with an underwhelming or broken feature?

As a modder myself, I can already kind of relate to this, even if I dont get much actual attention. For example, that ocean mod I posted earlier? I expected it to be done within a few hours. Rookie mistake, obviously. Took me 24 cumulative hours to get it done. And trust me, that includes one 3 hour stretch of profanity towards my helpless laptop who didnt deserve this.

But ja. I look forward to release day too. :)

I actually want it to release later rather than sooner, just a personal hope that it coincides or dates after the release of much needed next gen PC hardware. Just make it so much nicer when you have a new capable PC for such an awesome bit of software like SE is.

I am all for the wait, better well rounded than a broken half release.
