Bunch of recent updates (after Saturn-like rings):

- Uranus-like narrow rings around procedural planets
- Updated impostors system for galaxy/nebula rendering
- Editor for raymarched nebula
- Fully customizable shader for raymarched nebulae: config file describes parameters/uniforms, which automatically added to the shader, editor and scripts
- When the Solar System Browser is opened and user selects a new star system and presses F2, the Solar System Browser updates the planets table instead of closing itself
- Context menu point "Browse planetary system" opens the Solar System Browser on a currently selected object's hierarchy level
- Number of eclipse shadows per planet increased to 8
- Updated textures and elevation maps for Phobos and Deimos
- Added credits screen and donate button to the main menu

Comparison with the Deimos photo:

Credits page, it automatically starts scrolling, as usual:

Not sure where to place the credits button. Tried in the main menu, but don't like that. How about this?

And a bunch of new nebulae. Duke working on a single universal shader, which is able to render all types of nebulae you have seen before. Just tweak ~100 parameters in the editor, and you can turn egg-shaped planetary nebula into diffuse cloud or into supernova remnant. This is a basis for procedural engine: it will generate unique parameters for each procedural nebula, making unique appearance. Just like it doing for planets.

This one could be used as a circumstellar disk (protoplanetary disk). Must be implemented in engine as a planetary system part, not as a nebula.

Is that a protostar?(The one with blue rings in the last picture)

Nice work :).
For the credit button and donate, I think is OK but I know game foals put in the options but I prefer directly in the main menu as this is not a credit option.
Have you also provided a "site" and "forum" button with the same style as the "credit" button ?

No. I didn't said that protostars with protoplanet disks was implemented. This was just an experiment. Read my message carefully.

This is all fantastic work, SpaceEngineer and Duke. And I think that's probably a good place for the credits button - I'm just thinking though, that style of button you used for the credits button looks really nice and clean in my opinion. How about using that style of button for all of the menu?

Could this shader be used for clouds too?  :)

They will be low-contrast, background could interfere with text.

Not this exactly shader, but similar technology - yes.

Hey SpaceEngineer, what amazing new pictures, im so excited to test the new update in the future! :D
But i've a question, are these stars in the nebulae "real" stars, with planet systems etc. that you can actually fly by? The sprites look like, as if they are just part of the nebula...
And if so, are these stars, you know, "really" illuminate these nebulae and vice versa, do such emission nebulae illuminate other celestial objects like planets, asteroids etc.?
Or is this not yet featured in this update?

Are nebulae illuminated by the stars in it?

The "stars" that illuminate the nebulae are just part of the shader, they're not real stars (yet).

Yes, as HarbingerDawn said, stars are not real. Nebulae and their lighting system is still in development.

Heyyy. Nebulas look good.
I am actually wating for galaxies. I am not trying to rush, just saying. I only want to ask you to wake me up when the version with galaxies is out so I will start working on my mod again. I cannot wait to explore the new algorythm and make galaxies again.
going back to lurk mode

Is it planned to use such a technology for the water rendering?
