Just curious: will specific textures have 3d models (eg: individual rocks) also, is the transition between textures going to be smooth?

Rocks won't actually be modeled in this update, they'll still just be textures. And I think they're supposed to be pretty smooth, that's what SpaceEngineer was currently working on last time I checked.

Why doesn't the hi-res texture add-ons and the ultra resolution add-ons not be incorporated with Space Engine?

So that the base program isn't 20+GB.  It's best to leave them as optional downloads since most people (like myself) explore in deep space.

It does not matter if Space Engine was 20GB or more in size, because today's hard drives are at least 2TB or more in capacity. This means that 20GB of used space on a hard drive is only a drop in the ocean compared to the huge capacity of hard drives of today.

The issue here it's not the hard drive space. Solar System Ultra + HD are in total 45.4 Gigabyte. The problem is that you can't expect to distribute an installation file of 46 GB and not having users with issues during download. Moreover, with a global average connection speed of 5Mb/s (Akamai 2015), maybe with a daily data cap limit, many potential users will be simply unable to use the program.

Also potato computers/laptops like mine won't be able to handle it, and the game will probably crash or permanently freeze.

I have 3.5TB on my computer and still,  I do not want a 20+GB space engine unnecessarily.  I have enough 20+ GB games as is and it's just a hassle and takes way long to download.  Having the packs as optional I feel is the best way to go about them.

Sometime in the (far?) Future I would like to see little alien foxes running through forests if alien trees on an alien planet
