In regards to the eccentricity and changes to variations in orbital distances, does this mean we should see more diverse star system architectures in general?  Is there any procedure associated with orbital placement or is it just random?

Since you've addressed orbits, have you tried adjusting gas / ice giants's numbers of moons to be tied with the distance to its parent star? For example, Uranus and Neptune have moons very far away from them because they're far away from the sun. That should be taken in consideration because I've seen multiple hot gas giants close to their parent stars with lots of moons

I wrote a blog post about some of the program work I've done for 0.9.9.0 so far: http://spaceengine.org/news/blog171109/
I didn't know you was a programmer.  :)
You did a good job.

Finally star systems overhaul and realistic! Good job Harbinger! :)

I also added another engine effect group tied to the warp drive, so it is now possible to add engine exhaust effects to warp engines/hyperdrives/etc
Really! I was just thinking about it the other day. It could be nice to have an effect on some sort of warp field generator, like this:
► retractable warp-field gen
I look forward to test this.

Yes, it will be more diverse than before.
Is there any procedure associated with orbital placement or is it just random?
It's random within certain constraints.

Are you planning to add procedural and/or raymarched galaxy models in the next version?

can we create scripts to change planets atmosphere and parameters, 3d model presence and locations over time?

The only problem is that at every news the wait becomes more painful :-D

In August SpaceEngineer said that they didn't even start working on galaxies, most likely it will be tackled in future releases.

This is already considered. SpaceEngine computes the Hill sphere radius and uses it to limit the moons orbits. Just go to some circumbinary gas giant and see how vast its moon system is (sometimes up to 1 AU in radius!). Moons of hot gas giant, in opposite, are tightly packed.

No.

In September he said it would take a month to finish, and it's been two months since then.

That means a month from when work starts. He never said work on it had started.

As I frequently said, it's better to not ask me about release date, I am bad on planning and deadlines. And development of SE is like writing a poem, I can't predict what I will make after a month. For example, upgrading terrain rendering was not planned 2 month ago, but now I cannot stop, this work must be completed. I am also working on a side project, which taking some time from SE development.
