Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

18 Jan 2018 14:04

Unable to build spaceship. Can't select SpaceEngine from Pack. No options in Faction.
Post somewhere se.log file. It's in SpaceEngine/system/ folder.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

18 Jan 2018 14:40
I'm thinking that maybe SpaceEngine is thinking that since the system is a planemo system, that when there is an object hot enough to give off light, that it will calculate the light like a star giving off light, but since it is not classified as a star, it has a dark side. Either way, I think this may be a lighting bug, but don't quote me on it.
Probably... I also think the illumination on the other satellites didn't go away when they were eclipsed behind the primary planemo either so something is up with the lighting.

I can't tell if the same lighting occurs in systems with stars because I think the illumination from the star swamps the dim illumination from the incandescent moons. I couldn't see any lighting from those there anyway.

Ideally I think the solution would be to have the whole object glowing and if possible to have the lighting fade out over distance rather than just stop abruptly at a specific range. (I'm not sure if the exposure's being automatically bumped up here to account for dimness or not though).

I'm afraid sometimes people may not be able to look into issues in a short time span :).
Your problem is most likely caused by your Intel HD Graphics 3000 integrated card. If you have a laptop with dual graphics support be sure that SpaceEngine is using the other AMD or NVIDIA graphic card.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

20 Jan 2018 15:18

Im creating a system with a Brown dwarf as a companion star at over 1000 AU from a binary A class main sequence system, the Brown Dwarf and its companion planets are a copy and past of a procedurally generate system where the first planet is a terra with a temperature around 20c, but once the brown dwarf is placed in orbit at a 1000 AU of the binary pair the temperature of the terra planet jumps to 932c. So I'm thinking this might be a bug as the brown dwarf is far too far for light from the binary stars to have a significant if any effect on the brown dwarf and its companions.

Did something change in the orbit of the terra? Did you change its eccentricity (that could cause the temperature to shoot up due to tidal heating).

Your log has LOTS of warnings and errors about compiling shaders, which means you don't have enough VRAM

I'm thinking that too, but just to make sure, could you attach your system's .sc file?

Actually it just means that he / she has a wrong video card. He / she has an Intel HD 3000 graphics card that does not work with SE.

Unfortunately newly registered users cannot attach files until they reach 10 posts.
In order to share text without the need of sign in, one of the possibilities is using pastebin.com. Then you just need to copy-paste the resulting url, like this: https://pastebin.com/P5V98rAb
