hello, I have a problem, namely I bought and installed SE0.990 and the game after installation simply does not start, the system folder is missing openal32.dll file and I suspect that there are also a few others missing. please help.
Heya yeh there was some links i think in steam about this with openal and runtime something.
God I tell ya for some I just really dont like steam it seams to make it so hard against my thinking on how to find and do things
I think you have to download this runtime and openal if steam and space engine dont do it automatically.
Bloody hell I have been off windows for so long, I am a linux guy that windows is just doing my head in.
But I love space engine.
Hold I will look for these links mate bear with me
And this forum system is terrible
well i wish i knew more, ultimately we are both in the same boat.
we paid for a product and we are struggling with support and getting it to work front
Is there any capture software that works with 0.990?
I found afterburner just makes 100s of split second video files if i try to record instead of one continuous file and Fraps records all jerky as in the playback jerks backwards and forwards in time. Both of them work fine on 0.980e
The built in video recorder also doesn't seem to work, the fps drops to almost 0 when recording and almost all inputs become unresponsive. this is will all codecs too.
I've got 0.990 installed and working fine, but I'm having problems with running script files.
I've trying to do some simple automation and have started with a script to go to Triton. When I try to run the file I get this error:
ERROR: File not found: "#/scripts/triton.se"
I've tried copying the triton.se to every folder I can think of, always with the same error. Also, when I launch Space Engine with the script file on the command line, the same error appears in the log file.
I also managed to register the SE:// protocol, but Space Engine doesn't respond when I try to use it. Sometimes I am taking to the Main Menu system, but usually nothing happens at all. I think another user (MxDem?) reported the same problem.
Brown dwarfs and rogue planets register twice - both as star and as planet, and each entry has different characteristics. Also notice - they have auroras! Why would they? There is no star nearby!
In General IC1101 is very buggy, the number of stars in it is very low, it is like travelling through huge empty galaxy most of the time. The map mode in this galaxy also is bugged.
Sorry, could not get the links to work. Reposting:

Star behind accretion disk of IC1101's black hole. Only it is not, it is supposed to be in front of it. https://yadi.sk/i/tQkG88qdIJD4IQ

Does the new version create a places-user.cfg at some point? Notice it's missing and when I rename anything on the Wiki, it only keeps the name until I get out of Space Engine and resets it back to default names the next time I go back in. Noticed the old version had that places-user.cfg with my saved names, but not in the new one...
Possible catalog error with HR 8976 (Kappa Andromedae), incorrect temperature resulting in this surreal red-green color seen from Earth. It's a blue sub giant with a recorded temperature of over 10,000 kelvin, shows up as 1,127 K.

Hi guys, it's me, RockoRocks! Some long-time users of this forum and of SpaceEngine may recall my username. I've been a fan of SpaceEngine since at least 2013 or so, but sort of went into a hiatus on this forum between 2015 and now. I have in the meantime silently been lurking to see when the new version of SpaceEngine would be published, and needless to say Iw as enormously excited once it came out June 11th! However, after buying SE, I was met with an unfortunate problem.
First off, I'm aware I might be running this on a laptop that's far too old and too weak for the program (it's namely 7 years old) but I still wanted to give this a shot 'cause it's the best I've got. So the problem is that, once the program is done loading and gets to the title screen, it sort of freezes/crashes and I can't get past the (otherwise beautiful looking) title screen. The se.log is in attachment. I have noticed that once I'm at the title screen, there is no longer text in se.log either. Please help someone?? That would make my day so much!
Can SE be prevented from using the cracked mud texture on beaches?
I wish that in general, SE could make a distinction between deserts, beaches and riverbanks. Applying the beach/desert texture doesn't have to depend solely on elevation: in non-desert areas, there could be rocks or vegetation going right up to the shoreline.
Does the new version create a places-user.cfg at some point?
Yes, it should. Have you tried repairing permissions for the SpaceEngine/config directory?
