Space Engine no longer renders textures - SOLVED (sort of)

01 Jan 2017 20:30

This is the same PC which ran SE just fine until about a month ago. I have had trouble periodically with SE not displaying textures for stars, planets, moons, etc, ever since the latest update, but this time it's here to stay, apparently. I have 8gb ram, an NVIDIA 210, and quadcore 3.10 GHz processor. I have updated all of my card's drivers.

Can anybody help me get my planet textures back, and tell me how to keep them back?

Thanks very much in advance...

Hi, did you check the Troubleshooting and bug reports - 0980 section of the thread? I'm assuming you have that version.

Hello, and thanks for the response!

I did indeed check that, but the only bit that might have applied to me was the part about hybrid drivers, and my system only shows my NVIDIA driver in the list, not the default IntelHD one anyway. And that wouldn't explain why everything worked just fine, and then stopped working. My guess is it's an updated driver causing the trouble, but rolling back my drivers doesn't fix the issue. :(

Okay, sorry to double-post, but I solved this, kind of.

I rolled back my graphics driver, not to the previous version, but to the one before that. Now my planet, star, and moon textures will render, but I'm using an out-dated graphics driver from 2 years ago. Most of the changes from version to version are merely tweaks specific to certain popular games, but there are some other optimizations also, so I would love to be able to update my graphics driver, and still be able to use Space Engine.

It's kinda crazy that, the first thing that you're told when you have graphics related problems is to update your graphics drivers, when doing that is what caused the problems for me. :-/
