What is your display resolution?

05 Apr 2019 18:12

I sit about a 1500mm from mine.

Id' definitely go to 32". I used to games on at 1200p on a 28" and loved it and I much prefer it over a smaller screen of the same res,  1440p is only going to be an upgrade over what I already used to and liked. I wouldn't go 4k due to the poor refresh and slower performance. Refresh and frame rate is very importance to me and I value it over image quality. I like screen sized of 28" and above personally, at least for gaming. Office type work smaller screens are fine to me.

I confirm what for 4k you need hi-end gpu. I had GeForce 1060 and Radeon RX 580, neither of them are capable to run modern games at solid 60 fps (even SE!). Only when I got RTX 2080, I started enjoying 4k. BTW, anti-aliasing is almost useless on such resolution, which helps a bit saving performance.

Wow, in that case 32" isn't so unreasonable. I sit much closer to my screens.

But is 60 fps even necessary or desirable?  I actually use a frame rate limiter to cap my frame rates since I run multiple 3D apps at the same time, all my 3D apps are capped at 30 fps.

To play games - yes, 60 fps is minimum for comfort. I used to play shooters a lot on a weak hardware with 20-30 fps before, but now I prefer to sacrifice graphics quality or resolution, but have steady 60 fps. BTW, new terrain engine in SE is so smooth! If you limit the "Loading speed" to 1-2 of course - this slider is now a "trade-off" between smoothness of rendering and speed of terrain generation/loading.

Yeah my desk is 1m deep, depending how I sit my head is anywhere from 1200 to 1500mm away, 1500 when I lounge back in my chair.  My desk is next to my bed so sometimes when watching videos full screen I lay on the bed to watch which is about 2500 away. I think that experience will be excellent with a 32" screen.

*Stellarator sees all of this talk about sitting close to your monitor, goes and gets a measuring tape to do you know what*

Well, I sit about 60cm (that's 24 inches to you Metric barbarians) away from my 51cm (20") screen, so I'm getting all the toasty blue wavelengths I need 8-).

This tradeoff isnt in 0.980? Won't it reduce the overall quality AND performance of moving scenes in 0.990 for machines of the same hardware on the same settings?

I am running 3840*2160.
Is there a scaling setting I am missing in 0.99?
Viewing in this resolution makes the text and buttons too tiny.
It would be nice to make them a bit bigger.

1920x1080 here, using laptop.

I wonder who chose "unimaginably large (8k, (only one 8k monitor released, and that was 2 years ago, even today it costs $3,900) 10k, (only one 10k tv ever made and never sold, demonstrated 4 years ago. a person from the same province as stellarator tested fortnite on 10k ultrawide about a year ago), video wall)".
I'm just a backup account for Harge

The computer I've used every day for the past couple of years at work supports four 4K displays.  It's a decent amount of real estate, and actually quite useful.
