How much video memory do you have?

30 Mar 2019 03:26

Video memory is the dedicated memory on board your graphics card. It is not the same as regular RAM! If you do not know how much memory your graphics card has, please forgo the poll.

Video memory requirements are highly depends on you display resolution. Here is another poll about it.

Same.  4GB graphics memory, but only 1GB dedicated video.  I should really upgrade...

What do you mean by that? 4GB on the GPU and 1GB of that for video? I for me must say, don't know much about GPUs. Played once a little with the GPU settings for different games in the driver settings, thats it.
I have an old Radeon HD5770 (1GB) which was already aged when I bought it back in 2011.

The second one, dedicated video memory, is the quantity relevant to this poll.

I currently have a laptop with only ~60 MB of dedicated VRAM, and can only barly run SE. However I have an RX 480 shipping to me now, 4GB version, which will go into a desktop system I am working on, so I put down 4GB. (Hoping everything will go well with the build).

I have a GTX 1060 6GB. I have about ~6 GB of dedicated VRAM. This is new PC I got a year ago, before this one I had much less.

Mine has 4GB, a gtx 980 , I plan to upgrade to a radeon 7 since they are a fraction cheaper than the 2080 here and has double the vram.  When playing SE my 980 shows usage at 4GB nearly always but I do run max setting plus a manual LOD setting of 1.5.  It crashes above LOD 1.8 from lack of vram.

16GB should give me plenty of headroom. I want to try run 0.990 when it comes out without compression assuming that will be an option.

You in fact have precisely 6GB of VRAM - that's what the 6GB in 1060 6GB means.

My bad. I have a bad habit of thinking there's 1000 MB in 1 GB and not 1024. Sorry for the confusion :?
