Metallaxis,
you must make at least 10 posts before you can create your own thread.

If you want to make suggestions for SpaceEngine, you can post them in this tread:General suggestions for SpaceEngine

If you want to report an error or suspect you have found an error, you can post it here:Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

thanks for your reply. It just sees counterproductive that I have to make 10 unrelated posts, just in order to be able to report what I came here to report. Anyway, thanks to our conversation, I'm already 1/5th of the way there :)

This is to restrict spam.

Basically, it is better to post in an existing thread than to create a new thread for each question or problem. See Forum Rules.

10 posts is not a hard goal to reach, but you also shouldn't feel that you have to do this first before posting what you want.  It's generally the case that a relevant thread will already exist for what a new user needs to post, especially for something related to giving feedback or reporting a flaw or a bug, and in your case it sounds like you could be using one of the two threads that JackDole recommended.

IMO it seems like the 10 posts thing has actually been more damaging than anything else.  Many users have taken it to mean go spam a bunch of off topic posts to boost post count so that they can make more redundant threads.  This just makes cleaning up the forum more of a pain.

I think it has been pretty effective at stopping the botspam that we used to have, but never really understood why the requirement should be 10 posts.  I'd think that even making it be 1 post would stop that kind of spam... though not necessarily reduce the number of new users confused as to why they can't make immediately a thread.  Experience suggests that making the notice that you need to post in old threads before you can make new ones more prominent won't actually help much either.

It's a double-edged sword.

Maybe make some flashing message informing people of the post requirements to edit your posts or make a new thread, and when you click "i understand" it disappears :)

I was thinking everyone should be able to see the "create thread" button, but users who don't have enough posts will see a "you don't have enough posts yet" message pop up when they mouse over it.
I like cute pokemon and space games.

"you must make at least 10 posts before you can create your own thread."
Registered and was very confused. Figured it was something like this. This should probably be mentioned in the forum rules. :D

It's already in the forum rules, as seen in this quote from the forum rules.
New users cannot create their own threads until they wrote 10 messages in existing threads.

I saw that Bing Bot was crawling the Beta Testing thread, in fact it seems the thread has been indexed in Bing search engine. Is that intended?

The new thread editor is kinda annoying and buggy.

I can't start threads. There's no button to post new threads that I can see in any forums. Is it because I'm new?
