Re: Suggestions about new website

Gallery should have vanilla SE shots only.
Avatar size is 20 kb now.
Images in signature are not allowed - I am very dislike them. I want to disable signatures at all, but everyone will complain )))
Attachment is allowed only certain types of files, I will reconfigure that.
How about another, similar gallery that showcases the modding abilities available in Space Engine? Might that be do able, or no?
Specs: STGAubron desktop PC; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060/PCIe/SSE2 12 GB Vram, Intel Core i7-8700 3.2 GHz, 12 cpus; 32 GB RAM; Windows 11 x64

Suggestions about new website

These are very large problems:
Due to these many animations, the website can't load as fast as the current|DOT|
The website is too dark|DOT|
This "BE THE BEST RESEARCHER WITH SPACEENGINE" text is too advertising the program, and there is many things that are advertising SE extremely|DOT|
My mods, My forum
The new website is too dark|DOT| Matsoftware from the old forum[DOT]

How so? And even if you think it was, that's what this suggestion thread is for. How can we make it a better experience?

Hornblower, here is why I think, that the old website was better:
The old website looks brighter, and not so dark as this,
No animations and because of this, can load faster,
Not too advertising SE because this "BE THE BEST RESEARCHER WITH SPACEENGINE" text is too advertising|DOT|
But maybe does not matter because I'm only almost nine years old|DOT|
(I writing |DOT|s, because in my opinion the dots (.) are ugly)

I don't believe there is anything wrong with
1. The site having a front page animation, since this is a graphical program and the site should reflect that - If your computer has trouble loading that simple animation, it will definitely not be able to run SE.
2. The site being dark, because it is a space program and should reflect that
3.Advertising the program for learning about space, because that is what SE excels at (educating those who use it on many aspects of astronomy through 3D exploration research).

Maybe there should be some options to change the forum color scheme. I have no problem with the default colors, but I think the option should be available.

Another thing: I wish the top navigation bar, the one that says "SE Main Page," "Forum Rules," and "SE Chat," would stay at the top of the page as I scroll. Right now it kinda disrupts the flow.

Oh, and the "Forum Rules" button doesn't seem to do anything. Then again maybe it's my school's internet being weird. :P

I can confirm. Using my home computer and internet, it doesn't appear to do anything

Even weirder, when I force the button to open in a new tab, it simply creates a duplicate of the current page.

In http://new.spaceengine.org/manual/space-flight-school/  Links section, the epub file linked it's an outdated version.
Could someone please change the link with this?

https://yadi.sk/i/aulkn3jyumxTL

It's a different named file so I can possibly update the source while the link stays the same. Thanks.

The fact you're 9 yo doesn't concern us. Enjoy your rebellion while you can|EXCLAMATION MARK| ;)

Generally speaking I have a preference too for less dark themes, but I know it's a matter of personal taste. What matters is readability and I think it's fine.
I've just visited the mainpage with my 5" smartphone, and there are some elements to take care of, like the menu button which is placed over the main title, or system requirements section which has I think a fixed value for the width ad it's crunching the text. This in portrait mode, with Chrome.
In landscape mode it's gorgeous.

For the advertising thing, I think you're not taking into account the goals of this software, meant to be sold eventually in its gaming version.

Ok. It would be cool if the text itself were converted to html, so we can embed it to the website.
