The only way to fix this to be more realistic is to change way disks are rendered in such a way that allows them to be sheared.

I'm okay with that, since the current disks look like they're taken out of a 2006 video game.

A 2006 video game coded by a single person and available for free?  Impressive. :)

If you know of an easy way to render these disks with Keplerian rotation, feel free to suggest one.

Wouldn't it be nice that when near a spacecraft, radio noise/synths replace, or are added over, the music? And maybe do the same for inhabitated planets in case the label for sentient life is implemented? :)

I know we already discussed this, but increasing the apparent magnitude of stars doesn't really substitute for the natural, grainy appearance of the milky way. Hopefully this effect can be achieved in the future. :D

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

Greetings: A couple of minor things I think would improve the program.

In the in-engine ship editor (Shift-F2), it might be nice to have a button to duplicate an engine effect or docking port/corridor with the same parameters as the currently selected item (adjust the name with a suffix). And perhaps offset the location slightly so you can easily see it compared to the original. And of course be able to adjust the exhaust colour.

The ability to drag the selected item into approximate position with the mouse would be nice. I know dragging an object in 3-D space on a 2-D screen can be somewhat problematic, but then that's where having buttons to instantly call up a plan, or profile view of the ship. Then dragging will be done in the xy, xz, or yz plane.

Oh, and speaking of names, the camera locations seem limited to "Auto", "Behind", and "Cockpit". Using any other name in the .cfg file causes it to be ignored. Being able to use any name seems reasonable, especially for larger ships — using "Cockpit" just doesn't seem right, it needs "Bridge". :)

Oh... one more thing, it would be nice to be able to edit engine and thruster power in the editor. And it just occurred to me, it would be nice to be able to adjust emission power of the emission bitmap, and/or the specularity, to get immediate feedback of the changes.

Just a couple of ideas that would make tweaking ships a little easier.

3D animations of star surfaces of Red/Blue giants and beyond, and for stars like our sun or Red Dwarfs, a noise function could be added to make tesselation ,appearance of spots, and so on.

(Example of procedural 3D function that resembles a star surface in motion).

Also the planets could have a ver simple climate system, where polar caps varie in size, cloud formation or/and temperature could differ depending on the local terrain using a logic system, and humitidy (Wich interfers on cloud formation) could be a variable that varies on the presence of lakes, seas, desert areas, and etc...

Also, the terrain having certain characteristics due the position and force applied by plate tectonics, not necessarily an system where the continents change or whatever, but the presence of volcanoes, islands, mountains be based on that information.

Dunes (not moving ones) would be heavily appreciated. Remembering that due to different pressures and atmospheric conditions, the dunes would look different on various planets, but only few variables would need to be added.

ARBB, maybe you should rewrite that without font tags....

I tried earlier, but it didn't work out, so I assumed it was a bug to me, but now, it worked.

I'd at least like to see Earth looked at... it's apparently 8 degrees Celsius in the Sahara. :?

An issue I've had: the "true luminosity" of stars seems to fade out when I move at close enough range, but only when I'm moving. This doesn't seem like it should happen before reaching the solar system, but the result is intense flickering as I try not to overshoot it.

EDIT: The same thing happens when I adjust the view with the mouse.

  Different reflections on water.
So, Proland gives a very clear example of this, if you check Earth water reflections on the ocean, they have different brightness values due to ocean currents and such, also visible on images of Himawari-8, where you can see the messed up reflections in the ocean.
It would be really cool, and look a lot better. Now, a way to achieve this is if the algorithm checked temperature values, and with that, you could already implement a very early version of ocean composition, so water density,"saltiness", and wind speed would change those values. Also, it could be the first step to climate "interpretations".

Space Engine needs to have a Sandbox mode feature that gives players the ability to create their own simulations and also the ability to create their own planets, stars and galaxies.

Planet formation is something that I always wanted to do but it is currently not possible to do in Space Engine. This feature must be created because a Sandbox mode is greatly needed for simulations and planetary body creation as well as star and galaxy formation.

Gravity simulations such as dust particles to combine to later on form comets and then form asteroids to become planets is something that I consider to be added to Space Engine. It is very important that Space Engine grows into something that not only gives players the ability to travel in space, but also gives players the ability to create objects such as comets, asteroids, moons, planets, stars and galaxies.

Please add all those features to Space Engine.

Tectonic plates movement and terraforming is something that must also be added to Space Engine.

Like I said before, Space Engine must give unlimited possibilities for players to create planetary bodies how they want.

Space Engine must have the ultra texture pack included in the .exe download of the Engine.

Consider that some have enough PC memory for vanilla SE but not for the HD textures.
