I am utterly blown away by the quality of SpaceEngine 0.990, genuinely amazing work. Thank you.
When you've had a well-earned rest, I'd love to see a network socket that I could connect to, to get real-time data about the current state of the simulation - starting with lat/lon/alt, velocity vectors, current selected object ID, etc. I'm a developer too, and I'd use this information to:
1) build a moving map display on another computer, showing basic global position, or for Solar System objects - nearest waypoints/countries/cities/lunar craters etc.
2) hook up with Arduino/RaspberryPi electronics, etc, for really cool physical cockpit readouts, LED displays, etc.
X-Plane does something similar, where you can choose which data items you want it to send, and how often. It actually allows you to write back values into the simulation as well, but I'm not proposing anything that complicated.
Thanks for reading,
