Nice work Doc!  Star Trek is my favorite series of all time (TOS and the first 6 movies especially), I hope we create that kind of society one day.

Something similar is probably possible, but things like money will never go away so long as there are limited resources and demand for those resources.  True post scarcity cannot exist.  I suspect with the right manufacturing technologies and governmental systems we could come close though, much like the Venus Project.

Thanks, Doc, I did not know about the Venus Project.  Looks like there is some hope yet.....as long as AI doesn't get in the way lol.

AI might be needed for such a society to come into existence.  The whole system would need to be automated and to automate such a complex system would require some hefty AI.

AI+quantum computing?  Do you think we could establish some safeguards with AI to keep it in line with general ethics? I remember you and I were talking about how AI could see things from an entirely different perspective than we do.

Koerner Enterprise overhauls.  Redrew the bussard collector as I wasn't a fan on how it looked in SE but I wanted it to remain accurate in color and design to Wiley's original texture.  I have tweaked colors, emis glows, and specular maps so the ship looks a bit cleaner and has more depth in SE.

All Good Things Enterprise, had this model laying around for a while and never got around to importing it.  Did some adjustments to match the Enterprise D base model

N0B0DY, a while back you asked me to do a minimalist warp shader or one that you could still pilot with. 

I messed around with an old shader edit of mine where I distorted the warp effect into a Star Trek Beyond like stretched effect

You can see it here

However I played around with it a bit more and came up with this

The view is distorted still, but you can still pilot the ship pretty easily.  If you want to reduce the effect more just change the number 50 to a higher number

    return pos * (GM / (r * r + 0.00001)) * exp(Params.z*r*r*50); //Remove *50


If you remove 50 you will end up with this

Fixed orbit ESD with experimental docking, won't be adding it to other ships or bothering with it.  It takes way too much effort to add ports and adjust, would require many hours to add to other ships.

This will be something for much later versions of SE when these mechanics are more refined, but it does give a nice sneak peak at what should be possible in the future

If you speed up time they will drift away, but for slow gameplay parking a ship is relatively easy.




Added 3 drydocks with similar settings as ESD.  They are all Sovereign docks, 1 standard Sovereign, 1 smaller and wider, and 1 much wider for ships like Galaxy class and Odyssey class.  Would be better with more specific docks, but these are fine for testing.
