Okay, I may sound obsessivebut I could have found another way of exporting models from X3TC. I tried myselfat it, but after an entire afternoon I came to a dead end just before succeding, so I hope you're up to try yourself since you have actual experience.

This method seems to be pretty complex, but it can be done Gmax so it's free. Would you do that for this diehard fan of X3 that is desperate for its ships to be added to SE? :D

Gmax is helpful for import ship on X3, but not for export. it don't allow to export textures with models or load them correctly... it's the first software i Tried!

I'm a huge fan of X series like you and I understand you, but really I can't continue this mod, for tecnical reason and for legal reason, so please don't ask anymore! sorry... :-)

che scemo, non mi ero accorto che sei italiano anche tu, ti rispondo di nuovo così ci capiamo meglio :-)

Mi spiace davvero perché anche a me piace molto la serie X ma non posso continuare la mod.
Gmax è il primo software che ho usato per moddare X, è utile per importare navi nel gioco ma non va bene per esportarle. Ottenere il modello è facile, ma per le texture è un altro paio di maniche. sono poche le navi di X che hanno una singola texture, la maggior parte sono fatte con decine di materiali ognuno con una sua texture e gmax non permette di caricarli correttamente. per non parlare del fatto che, se non ricordo male, Gmax non permette nemmeno di salvare in altri formati oltre al suo. Anche con la giusta versione di 3ds si trattava di un'ora di lavoro per ogni nave, bisognava esportare ogni materiale separatamente e poi ricostruire il modello con le giuste texture su blender, quindi creare l'obj finale, un casino! Se l'ho fatto è stato proprio perché ci tenevo molto anche io :-D
Ad ogni modo, quando ho creato questa mod per Space Engine ho chiesto il permesso alla Egosoft, sul loro forum gli sviluppatori sono molto gentili e rispondono sempre. Mi hanno detto che non c'era problema ma solo se mi fossi limitato ad alcune navi, non troppe perché altrimenti sarebbe diventato illegale... per cui anche se non avessi problemi a creare nuovi modelli da aggiungere in SE ne potrei condividere qui sul forum solo pochi altri per evitare che alla Egosoft facciano problemi...
davvero non posso continuare questo mod, sia per ragioni tecniche sia per ragioni legali! mi spiace, mettiti il cuore in pace e aspetta X4 come me :-D

I cant get the shuttle liberty add, and lander to come up. maybe i am unpacking wrong. The name will come up and let me choose them but I cant see them the ships are not there.

Is not your fault. Those models were for version 0.974 and when I tried to use them in 0.98 I noticed that they did not work anymore.
I should have imported them from the original files, but I realized I had lost them.
I wanted to look for them but I did not do it anymore :-)

NEW PACK - ALL AMARR SHIPS WITH MULTIPLE TEXTURE

I prepared a pack with all the amarr ships. Textures are not the originals, but diffuse texture rebuilt from the new EVE shader system.
Before you ask me, I immediately say that I will not do the same work for the other races of EVE, it's a job too long I don't want to do :-D
If someone wanted to do it I could prepare tutorials to explain how to do after the holidays.
I intend instead to prepare other packs with the ships that I like the most and the amarr and gallente stations, plus some others...

No engine effects have been added to the ships and some may have cameras in the wrong positions. over time I think to correct these inaccuracies, but if you wanted to do it I would be happy :-)

Thats a shame. I really hope that you or someone else creates some more realistic mods. I would like to see a few like the space shuttle Atlantis with and without the boosters, Hubble, the ISS. ect.. I am sort of surprised regarding the lack of interest in that area.. As soon as I can figure out why SE has been acting up for me the last few days, like ships and planets disappearing; I think that I am going to attempt to learn how to create mods as well.

Yes, they are old mode and the images link is broken. The mod itself probably doesn't work anymore...

exporting obj files from x3 require 3d studio in an old version (2012 if I remember well, most recents versions don't work well), so, after expiry of the demo version that I had managed to get, I had to stop :-/

in future, if i could find a working 3ds version i'll add some new models... 
 
I am using 2015 3d MAX and it doesn't do too bad of a job, I am about to try maya as well.

Love your add ons have to get you rolling again. Maybe you can help me with a project that I am working on.. It's complex and very time consuming but with permission and credits I have been permitted to use a high quality launch pad. KSC 39 a/b. I also made an extremely high quality ET and SRB for the shuttles as well, and have some help with payload add ons for them, which is something you may be interested in as well when the time comes. But I could use a hand right now really. Have about 10 things going at once lol.... Here is the biggie

Let me know if you would be interested.. This model alone is a monster and I could use some help.. def throw credit your way too. I want to put together a historical package that will be fun for now and become even more useful to as SE develops in animation, fixed bases ect... I have a number of nearly finished models as well. But the whole historical thing will be a huge project and I would like to add a sci fi twist to it as well. If you're interested let me know and I can shoot you some of the models I am working on.. This is the big boy right now now though, esp to get it looking great in SE, thanks to the kindness of David and his hard work on the mesh. It'e super complex.
