Alien : sulaco and juggernaut (derelict)

19 Sep 2017 18:06

the instructions for adding 3d models is very vague so,
these need some work and the speed and scale is a bit crazy on both.
if someone wants to edit and re-release them go right ahead..

note: you may have to unpack for them to work
(rename to alien.rar and unzip/move to addons)

they only worked here unpacked

Well the addon works but only extracted, pak files are renamed zips set to normal compression not rar files.

Your Sulaco size is incorrect, way too large.  The Sulaco should be 385 meters and 78,000 tons(not important) if we go off the wiki.

Your orientation of the Sulaco was imported wrong, I haven't checked out the obj file in 3ds max but I suspect that is where it is wrong.  I corrected this in the ship editor by rotating it properly

I don't know the info for the other ship, I can probably find out.

If you want I can fix this addon for you completely, it has a lot of issues but luckily you included the 3D models.

This reminded me I do have a couple alien ships in a file somewhere ported from Orbiter or Celestia. Perhaps I will go back to them and package it all up.

i basically just modified .SSS files from others addons to get the ships to show up...
it would be great if you fix them up. i also have the dropship from the sulaco if you want that (obj)

Alright, I will look into improving this addon.  I will go back to my old Alien addon files and see if I can include a few other ships as well, the Sulaco you have is a much nicer model.

Keep an eye on the bell in the top right corner of the site, I will tag you in my post when I upload this stuff to my mod thread.

I will credit you for supplying the models, did you make the models or rip them from somewhere?

That would be the USS Odyssey, it's from Star Trek Online, custom edits to give it a less cartoony look, and sadly no it is not currently available for SE.  I ran into some legal issues when trying to get permission to share it

Wow...wow...wow....Very nice work!

Since i am new to the site and can't create my own thread i am going to ask here (thread hijack...sorry)  Are there more detailed instructions on how to import models into SE?  I am super interested in learning, however following the instructions I found on this site for importing .obj files...I haven't had any success.  Ships always appear....well they don't appear at all when I build them in SE.  I have tried with a few 3ds models i found on the web.  I have converted/exported them to .obj files in 3ds max, but they all turn out the same.  Any suggestions or tips?
