Alternative Versions of the Solar System (SE 0.9.8.0)

27 Jul 2017 17:05

Description: As you read in the title, I made alternative versions of the solar system. I tried to make the system the most acurate posible if that was real, with some things i´m not sure if it´s realistic... send me suggestions to better them.
Also I want to add more class types of stars, but I don´t know how the planets will be, also in some other stars it will be the same (For example a BlackHole and a Brown Dwarf there is no much diference, both planets will be frozen)

Anyway here are the versions:

Red Dwarf Sun:
It replaces the sun with a star class "M1"
RedDwarfSun.jpg
Brown Dwarf Sun:
It replaces the sun with a star class "L5"
BrownDwarfSun.jpg
Blue Star Sun:
It replaces the sun with a star class "B0"
BlueStarSun.jpg
Hyper Giant Sun:
It replaces the sun with a star class "M7 0" and adds a new star with a star class of "B2"
HyperGianr.jpg
Binary Sun:
It adds a new star with a star class of "K5"
scr00000.jpg
Important Things:
(OPTIONAL) Make a backup and delete the following files: "Asteroids.sc" "Asteroids-bin.sc" "Asteroids-small.sc" "Moons-small.sc"            "KuiperBelt-small.sc" "KuiperBelt.sc" and "Comets.sc" This is because in some cases all that objects are unrealistic. All this files can be found on "SpaceEngine/data/catalogs/planets"

Installation:
Download one of the versions and move the PAK file in your addons folder.
Red Dwarf Sun.PAK
(4.44 KiB) Downloaded 720 times
Binary Sun.PAK
(4.77 KiB) Downloaded 548 times
Brown Dwarf Sun.PAK
(2.47 KiB) Downloaded 621 times
BinaryHyperGiantStarSun.PAK
(4.27 KiB) Downloaded 615 times
Blue Star Sun.PAK
(4.29 KiB) Downloaded 598 times
And finally... sorry for my bad English! xD

Alternative Versions of the Solar System (SE 0.9.8.0)

27 Jul 2017 18:47

As an MO star, the Earth would most likely be tidally locked, not be a terra, most certainly wouldn't have the same look and city lights, Mercury and Venus could be habitable.

As a brown dwarf Earth, Venus and further out would be uninhabitable for the most part and wouldn't be tidally locked. Mercury could be habitable but its a longshot.

As a blue star Earth would no longer be a terra and be a hellworld like venus, Mars would be the same. Gas giants wouldn't have rings either and the moons would be selenas of those planets.

I don't see why you edited the planets to make them selenas.

Alternative Versions of the Solar System (SE 0.9.8.0)

Starlight Glimmer, Well, in the addon actually as a brown dwarf, Venus and further are  uninhabitable, just Mercury have subglacial life. And yeah as a blue star Earth will no longer be a Terra, that´s the reason it´s a desert.

As a MO star... Ok, I will change that.

And I added selenas because as i said in the thread, I don´t know much how could it be the planets in some ocacions...
So now i asked you, how do I  change them?

How to change the planets into Selenas? Is that what you are asking?

Starlight Glimmer, No, I mean, You are asking me why I edited the planets to make them selenas, what I was trying to ask you is wath should be that planets? Because I changed to selenas based on solar systems generated procedurally by Space Engine...

I know my English it´s really bad, sorry for that misunderstood...

Well, for one thing if they were selenas the moons would all fly out due to the lack of mass keeping them in place. I'd suggest to just leave the masses the same, and remove solar system textures from the planets. That way they would be procedural.

This is really cool, I really like the red dwarf version. tho I did change it a little so the Earth and Moon are tidally locked to each other.

Alternative Versions of the Solar System (SE 0.9.8.0)

I am in the process of editing these addons to make them better.

Here is the edited version of the Red Dwarf system. Make sure to go into SpaceEngine/Date/Catalogs/Planets and remove the following files:

SolarSys.sc,Asteroids-small.sc,Asteroids-Bin.sc,Moons-small.sc,Asteroids.sc,KuiperBelt.sc.

If you do not remove these files the addon will not work properly. I do not have the time and patience to move every single little asteroid and moon. Major moons only shown in the addon.

Made to be realistic as possible.

RedSolarSys.sc goes in planets. RedSol.sc goes in stars.

Alternative Versions of the Solar System (SE 0.9.8.0)

Starlight Glimmer, You don´t need to delete the SolarSys.sc file just use the parameter "remove" as I did...
Remove "Sun/Sol" {ParentBody "Solar System"}
Remove "Mercury" {ParentBody "Sol"}
Remove "Venus" {ParentBody "Sol"}
Remove "Earth-Moon" {ParentBody "Sol"}
Remove "Earth" {ParentBody "Earth-Moon"}
Remove "Saturn" {ParentBody "Sol"}
Remove "Uranus" {ParentBody "Sol"}
Remove "Neptune" {ParentBody "Sol"}
And then with the same names, make the planets.
But yeah... the modifications you made to Earth I will add it, ok?

But then all the other asteroids, small moons and things will remain in the same place. Its fine if your doing it with a G2V star. But when its on anything else orbits of small moons around planets, orbits of asteroids, and things will be unrealistic.

Starlight Glimmer, Well with that it´s ok, since it will be pretty hard to remove all asteroid and small moons from the catalog, but just leave the SolarSys.sc file ok?

Has anyone thought of making a alternate solar system with the hypothetical planets nine and ten?

Well, there was an addon about Planet 9 awhile back. I don't know where it is now. Planet 10? Never heard of that.

It's possibly a planet lurking in the kuiper belt. https://www.space.com/37295-possible-planet-10.html
