To create a planet with three rings, you can place two moons with rings inside the planet. Look at my addon 'PitchBlack' for that. (The planet 'Fence'.)

You can read the 'Manual'.
Especially the chapters: Creating a star and: Creating a planet

And you can find here a very simple tutorial for creating a binary star system: How to make a simple binary solar system

Here is 'A very simple tutorial on how to create a solar system'.
It also shows how a moon is created.

I made The Cosmic Eyelash galaxy add on. Download it and look at the whole package. There are notes in the script that might help. There's also a tutorial in these forums that's nearly required reading. Basically it is just a texture with each of the color channels representing stars, clusters, and nebulae dispersion through the galaxy. It must also have an alpha channel for dust. A second graphic file shows what you see as a player for the new galaxy model. I hope that's a good start for you!

I don't want to make a galaxy with a custom model... I just want to know what the parameters are in galaxy scripts and what they do

The way to add life is to add the following code statement to the planetary script
Life
 {
 Class   "Organic"
 Type    "Multicellular"
 Biome   "Marine/Terrestrial"
 }

Ways to Turn Land Green
Change the color Lowland, color Upland, color Rock, color LowPlants, color UpPlants in the Surface tab of the planet script. The first three values after the five parameters are green RGB values.Behind the color Snow is the color value of snow.
For example, change to this green one.
colorLowland   (0.509, 0.964, 0.215, 0.000)
 colorUpland    (0.509, 0.964, 0.215, 0.000)
 colorRock      (0.509, 0.964, 0.215, 0.000)
 colorSnow      (1.000, 1.000, 1.000, 1.308)
 colorLowPlants (0.509, 0.964, 0.215, 0.000)
 colorUpPlants  (0.509, 0.964, 0.215, 0.000)

The RGBa values of the other colors are displayed in the URLs below the RGBa value points. The RGBa values of the selected colors are displayed in the box below the RGB Normalized Decimal. Copy them to the corresponding location of the SE script.

It didn't really work, the land was still tannish, even with life. Also how do you add city lights.
Edit: The only way for me to have green landmasses is to edit a existing planet and put life on it then export that.
