Okay, i have a question for myself and i hope i don't get hated for this! :P
Is this a closed Beta?
yes
Why?

So, i think now that SpaceEngineer decided to skip the version 0.9.8.1, and go straight to 0.9.9.0, why can't we get a current state of development version?
Don't get me wrong, i don't ask for a monthly release of development version, just one small state of the art, so we can see and test the new features for ourselves... Me personally, and i think the biggest part of the community too, don't care for the bugs it may have and will have, i think it'd even better so, 1000 eyes see more than 20 eyes or so...
We wait now for long 1 year and 3 months...
Indeed, this isn't the longest we had to wait, in fact only the 3rd longest time, longest was from 0.9.7 to 0.9.7.2 and 2nd longest from 0.9.7.3 to 0.9.8.0, but the time from 0.9.7.3 to 0.9.8.0 was bearable because of the open beta!
And there's no end in sight yet, this may be the longest waiting time for a new version we have to endure, with all the new featuers that need to be perfected, such as the new atmospheric Composition, planetary composition, duke's nebulae (maybe the most complicated thing) etc.
I estimate for myself that it can take another whole year for a full release of 0.9.9.0, half a year at least...

So yeah, why can't we get a small piece of what's new for our own? We even get 0.9.8.0e and i'm happily greatful for that!
Even noticed some new bugs since then i think, but i'm fine with that, thanks to this update, i could plan the exact location for my Iceland vacation on 12.08.2026 17:46 UT! ;)
Just ONE small update, to bridge this unbelievable suffocating waiting......
Only the fewest mortals have the patience of a stone!

Wow there is some impatience going on :P  did you guys know that we had to wait from 2006 to 2014 to get the next iteration of Starry Night? (We had free updates in between, but still, the last one was in 2009 before the major release of version 7 in 2014.)  Meanwhile you should just have fun exploring the infinite awesomeness of SE (funny we were just talking about infinities in another thread.)  We just had the eclipse patch update in August and meanwhile some great people have been adding more to the program and extending the SE universe.  I don't mind waiting a few years between major releases, it is worth it!

Typbürste, your patience will be rewarded soon.

The problem with releasing random patches are bugs, and it may not be a big deal to you but given the early state and the likelihood of really bad bugs its best to iron them out before a major public release.  I have seen some really bad bugs in my time of beta testing the program, so trust me when I say it is well worth waiting. The incomplete or partially added features also need to be finished or touched up before any public release.

I guess whenever SpaceEngineer and/or SE Team members think that there's actually something new to report.

Yes, behind the scenes work must be pretty hard to iron out all the bugs.  All beta software has them.  I can tell you some horror stories about some bugs being so bad that they fried graphics cards (not mine but I've read about it and it's why we should all be patient and be glad for the awesome program we already have even as we look to the future.)

When there's a new release, will there be new keys to get updates on Steam? I used to enjoy being really active  helping find bugs and stuff along with participating in the community but ever since the forum change and the start of the closed beta I feel like I've been pushed away and left in the warp trail ion dust...

What are some questions in the forum?
Sorry for that. Here you have the corresponding thread to post issues like bugs and problems with Space Engine:
Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0
By the way, please explain precisely what bugs are you talking about (no one can help nor fix it if you don't explain). Also look first if it was adressed in the thread by someone else and the developer is aware of it.
