I'm happy for the changing seasons. I think that if the days were all the same, life would be duller. Being used to highly variable seasons, living near the equator would make me miss the changes.
I've only spent one winter and summer in northern Norway, and while the midnight sun was a nice break from a long winter, I welcomed the beginning twilight in August, as no break from daylight in three months will begin to wear on you. Winter eventually offers a long break. That it's dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home can be a bit annoying if I need to do something which requires good lighting, so sometimes things have to wait till the weekends. Even in northern Norway there is twilight that might be enough, but not in Svalbard and things may have to wait a few months before it becomes practical to do it.One thing that has always felt exotic to me is to be outdoors in the dark in shorts and t-shirt. That's a combination usually not possible in Norway.
