I'm pretty sure we'll soon loose the habit of "manually-driving" cars. As soon as we'll improve our roads to be easily interpreted by a software, we will loose the necessity of controlling our cars since... they can easily do that by themself! So you don't need to worry about car accidents and such, or about finding a parking lot. You can even get drunk since the only thing you need to worry about is setting the destination (I guess, if you're very drunk, pronouncing the sentence "take me home" would be enough).
Also, if every car will communicate with each other, maybe even traffic lights will be useless since you already know what every other car is going to do. So yeah, Tesla are an interesting experiment, also Google Car, but in future a car like that will be considered "ancient"
