Asteroid Belt Generator?

06 Apr 2017 15:29

Hello, SE forums. I remembered that there was some sort of asteroid belt generator somewhere on here, but I can't find it. Was the original post deleted or is it just on the original one? A link to it, if you can find one, will help.

Here is the python version of the Asteroid Belt Creator.

From the GUI version, I do not have the link, since the old forum is currently not available.

And it immediately crashes whenever I try to output a file that doesn't have a parent body of Sol.

Preset = 0
Parent Object = Kepler-452
Barycenter? = 0
Type Of Object = 1
Binary Moons are Dwarf Moons? = 0
Number of Objects = 60
Name for Group of Objects = S
Minimum Radius in AU or KM = 0.47
Maximum Radius in AU or KM = 0.61
Minimum Radius of Objects in km = 0.2
Maximum Radius of Objects in km = 40
Maximum Orbit Eccentricity = 0.1
Minimum Orbit Eccentricity = 0.0
Inclination to Reference = 94
Maximum Variation of Inclination (degrees) = 11
Ascending Node (degrees) = 0
RefPlane = Extrasolar
Epoch = (Default)
Output File Name = Kepler-452AsterBelt

Whenever I hit Enter, it just crashes. I have a feeling it might be that I didn't put a unit for Semimajor Axis, but it says that you have to do something to make it into kilometers.

jasperhb,
I have no problems with generating a script.
What do you have for a Python version? I have tested the script only with Python version 2.7 and 3.4.

I have attached an asteroid belt.
The 'AscNode' value must also be set to 94 degrees so that the asteroid belt is correctly aligned.

Well, I can't determine the problem otherwise. It shows an error report, then immediately closes.
