That precision boost overdrive feature I was talking about.

Asus have a good article on how it works and how to use their implementation of it.

Yes, the motherboard has three different overclocking features, one is called PE (performance enhancer) another is PBO (precision boost overdrive) and there is a third one called Core Performance Boost.

Also, no recommendation for whether the UPS should be turned off when the computer is off?
As far as I know, UPS is by design intended to be on all the time, but there are people that do prefer switch them off along with the computer.
Thats what I do too, I leave it on some of the time and turn it off at other times.  I guess in the long run it really doesn't affect it negatively one way or the other.

I got the card few days ago and i love it!  Really night/day difference in audio quality even with my 15 year old logitech speakers.  It arrived in mint condition. Was really surprised as it was used.

I was going to show the insides but I couldn't find a + screwdriver in the house at the time so I just installed it in the PC.
EAX works very nice in UT2004, other games not so much but that was the game I mainly wanted it in as it had the best audio environments and content out of all the game I have But even the games that didn't not like EAX, with it off the card still improved the quality tremendously.

I got the Logitech x-230. Old but still great.

I want to eventually get some nicer speakers though I am not sure what make.  I just tested headphones and wow the built in amp is great and I didn't have to set anything. Soon as I pluged the headphone in the dedicated jack the output automatically switch from speakers to headphones with both still plugged in and the levels were audibly more or less the same as I had on the speakers, no adjusting really was needed.

Made a video with EAX on and off on UT.  Ignore the crackling, youtube encoding seemed to have messed with the audio, there weren't there on the game or original recording .

I've built more computers since then.
Oh really, how many have been built since, what were there specs, and what were they meant for?
Because I don't like or trust Windows 10 and I will probably never use it for my own PC.
What do you not like about windows 10 that prevents you from using it, and what will you be using after Windows 7 reaches EOL?

I love your cable management and the fact that your power supply is the facing wrong way.

Something that erked me a little bit is that you underclocked your ram, I wonder why.

I also saw you have an optical drive, do you use it much at all?

I don't remember.
what were there specs
The two that I can remember clearly, both had a Ryzen 2600X, one had a GTX 1060 6 GB, and one had a GTX 1050 Ti.
and what were they meant for?
One was a mid-budget gaming PC, and one was a general-use PC that could do a little of everything, but especially photo archiving.
What do you not like about windows 10 that prevents you from using it
I have a ton of problems with Windows 10, more than I want to bother going into right now, but for example I had problems with it randomly deleting files on other drives during the one time that I tried to use it on my PC, which I remember being a big problem at the time.
what will you be using after Windows 7 reaches EOL?
Haven't decided yet.
I love your cable management and the fact that your power supply is the facing wrong way.
Um... thanks?

Because it wasn't stable at 3200 (probably a mobo or CPU issue, it's all first-gen AM4 stuff).
I also saw you have an optical drive, do you use it much at all?
Very rarely, but it's nice to have.

Do you have an ASUS motherboard HD?

I cant find a proper thread for this so I'll talk about it here- when my old hard drive died a text file I need for SE went with it.  It had all the keyboard controls for moving or flying around and changing speeds and direction and also for leveling the horizon and stuff like that.  It also had the keyboard shortcuts for activating the console and landing at a certain lat/long and elevation and changing the fov and all that stuff.  Is there any site or file or somewhere in the program where I can access all this?  Basically I'm looking for all the keyboard controls and shortcuts for moving around and the commands and parameters that are used to do things in the console.

To expand on the above. Ryzen 1000s series had not so great IMCs so most speeds above 2400 is technically like overclocking the ram on the fist gen. Not ram issues but rather IMC.   2000 series is much better and is capable of 3600 MTs in the best case with 3466 being easy to hit if the ram isn't limited.

Since he has a 1700x it is totally expected.

G Skill actually came out with 2x8GB RAM that runs at 4200 for Ryzen 2x!

I think that would be a massive challenge to get it to run at spec.  Remember the IMC is half the equation, and if it doesn't want to go that fast then the ram wont either.

I wonder if Asus bios can handle it, I went into their options and saw that as a selection (the highest option is DDR4-4200).

I was looking at different overclocked memory and it seems the vast majority are 2x8 GB, very few 2x16 GB are clocked higher than 3200.  Must be a stability thing.

Yeah, just remember that your computer will only use the amount of memory it is coded to, no-more, no less. Also, RAM numbers can be a bit misleading because programs like Windows will permanently use up a given amount of RAM, leaving whatever is left behind for use in games and the like. That's why I disliked Windows 10 so much - it ate up 3 gigabytes of my RAM.
