Tabby's Star is undergoing a dimming event. Automated Planet Finder, Hobby-Eberly Telescope, Large Binocular Telescope, SWIFT, and numerous other telescopes are currently observing or about to observe the star.
This is the first dimming of the star that has been observed since Kepler's prime mission ended.
Observations are being carried out by:
Large Binocular Telescope
Keck I and II
Minerva Telescope Array
MMT
Hobby-Eberly Telescope
Palomar
SWIFT
Green Bank Telescope
Automated Planet Finder
KELT
HARPS-N
TRAPPIST
Possibly SOFIA on May 24th.
Dimming in I,R,V,B bands between JD 2457890.7 and JD 2457892.8:
I: 0.09%
R: 0.73%
V: 0.82%
B: 1.82%
If confirmed, increased dimming in shorter wavelengths would suggest dust / ice.
