Okay, here some of my own shots. Few years back I had a very simple telescope and simple camera. But still I managed (with the use of some freeware ) some nice shots.

First time doing astrophotography using stacking these were taken a few weeks ago.
what do you think?

Pleiades Cluster iso 1600 2sec exposure stacking of 140 lightframes.



Orion nebula iso 1600 2sec exposure stacking of 110 lightframes.


Double cluster iso 1600 1sec exposure stacking of 120 lightframes.

Excellent images!  That's a lot of light frames to stack, but the benefits are plain to see -- crisp stars with great color and contrast.  The double cluster is especially beautiful.

I'm not sure how much more room there is for improvement from what you already have, but if you decide to venture further into image calibration, consider taking a similar number of dark frames (same exposure time but with camera totally covered) and stack those in as well.  This helps remove the "dark current" noise in each frame caused by the camera itself, and it might help with pulling out more of the nebulosity.

Watsisname, i should have mentioned it, all have been also stacked with 100+ darkframes 100+biasframes and 100+flatframes, only problem i have is the light pollution also i dont have a star tracker which limits my exposure time to 2sec maximum even then the stars are not really round which results in loss of detail. but taking 1sec exposure gives good results
like the double cluster.

Bambusman, oh, ok!  You're doing great.  Light pollution and lack of a mount are indeed a bummer, but it's amazing what you can do with what you have!

They are great- what kind of camera and lens and focal length did you use? I do wide field imaging and I find that I can do 13 sec exposures at 14mm (28mm equivalent) and still have round stars.  I use DSS for stacking and then a program called Sequator to remove light pollution.
Did you know you can even detect exoplanets with simple camera equipment?

I don't do dark frames and all the other stuff as I merely keep dark frame subtraction on in my camera.  It takes the dark frames automatically.

Bias frames are for dust on the sensor (I think) and Olympus cameras are legendary for dust removal (I wouldn't use any other brand and I only use mirrorless because I want as lightweight as possible.)

I wonder if we should have a thread specifically for the techniques of astrophotography?  Where people can talk about their equipment, strategies for image calibration, software and tutorials.

We do that at Dpreview.  I have been pimping this site like crazy on there, including posting screenshots I hope I've gotten a few people to download the software and join lol.
Two things I'm extremely interested in are astronomy and weather.  So I typically run SE, Stellarium and Yowindow all the same time.  I'm also a numbers and records buff so I have something like 250 locations saved on Yowindow (hottest, coldest, snowiest, rainiest, driest, most remote, furthest north, furthest south- in each hemisphere.)
