Those same statistics would also invalidate any real likelihood of it happening during your life or the life time of humanity.

DoctorOfSpace, true. I am a bit nervous about stuff like doomsday scenarios, maybe that is why the concept scared me so much :)

Also, found an Isaac Arthur video about The Great Attractor, what is likely a immense galactic cluster in the center of the Laniakea supercluster. :)

Look at it from a larger perspective and it might help.  You are doomed to die, everything you will ever do will decay and be lost and ultimately have no real impact on the universe.  Whether its vacuum decay, dying in an accident, or dying from old age you will cease to exist regardless, best not to worry about it.

It's cliché, but it's true: every day of your existence is a gift, so make the most out of all them.  Explore, learn, meet people, do satisfying work, and have fun!  A life spent fearing all the things that could happen isn't a very good life.

DoctorOfSpace, that was really interesting.  The Planet Earth series has some of the best cinematography I've ever seen.  Now I can see why. :)

No, but it is a very productive one

You're right.  We need to get to work immediately on figuring out just how unstable this false vacuum stuff is before it decays on us.  Dedicate all resources to building more powerful accelerators to poke at the vacuum.  We'll fight fire with fire!

I see no issues with initiating vacuum decay, it can be our gift to the universe.

Hornblower, nice video :)If Omega Centauri is the core of a dead galaxy, could that explain the insane density of stars?

I think the future of humanity thread is more appropriate for Isaac Arthur.

No worries, his videos are just more on the speculative side of things.
