Yeah, that is practically documentary-level material. In fact, it IS documentary level, since I've seen some otherwise top-notch astronomy films with absolutely terrible graphics. It yet again proves that SE has amazing potential for educational or entertainment applications.

Science and Astronomy Questions

28629 Is it possible to have planets with fresh water seas instead of salt water seas?.... And if so, how difficult would the circumstances be? To answer this, you must know why Earth's oceans are salty. The salt in ocean water is a mix of the minerals sodium, chloride, sulfate, magnesium, calcium,...

28607 No, "huge swathes of the population" will not die from ~800 ppm CO2. Care to elaborate? How exactly would widespread atmospheric concentrations of +/- 800ppm carbon dioxide NOT be harmful for overall human health in the long-term? I side with you in the notion that "Swathes&quo...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

28575 My idea is to be able to spawn in 3D models, including stuff like Sol's heliosphere, the M87 black hole, IC 1101, etc. near something like the Solar System and be able to use a simple GUI to move the objects around, set transparency and rotate. It'd be awesome to be able to place the m87 blac...

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I thought it was very cool: yT50Q_Zbf3s Also, some here are some newer images from the Mars Curiosity Rover (spoiler: they are mostly rocks and added wind effects). Qr Bbpost But I couldn't find the paper this supposedly is based on.  Does anyone know where this comes from?

Should we be at all surprised that tabloids misinterpret, exaggerate and prematurely publish scientific theories?

Some people think that just because SE is a free indie game (for now), they can take advantage of it to exploit its visuals and contributors.

28447 Didn't SpaceEngineer say that those weren't gonna happen? No, he said that they would be implemented down the road and are not yet a chief concern. I for one cannot wait for atmospheric volumetrics, but I acknowledge that Vladimir has bigger fish to fry. Perhaps when the Vulkan API is impleme...

Spelljammer for Space Engine - Realmspace by Gnargenox

Wow Gnargenox! You finally released the mod - well done.  I've always wanted to see a Spelljammer mod for something, and it's a original choice for SE.

Qr Bbpost Oh, the incident in Paris Monday evening. It wasn't us.

Not unless YOU were part of the renovation crew that left a burning cigarette somewhere in Notre Dame! At least that is the latest cause I've heard. Another is that a glitch in the security system caused it.

Gameplay concept

28371 Otherwise, a game like this where you literally just wait for months to do a single task unable to fast forward either by time warp or using a cryogenic technology to undergo suspended animation won't interest much people except the most patient. There are many games that are like this, who h...
