What do you guys reckon. Vega FE for less than 400 USD used? or wait for radeon 7?  It might be the same frames per dollar even if it is more costly but if its not as fast as they claim the used FE will still be better bang for buck.  Bother cards sport 16GB of ram and are better value at the perfor...

I have wireless internet. it's pretty rock solid. My landline on the other hand was so unstable despite 10s of repairs it still couldn't sustain a dialup connection.  ADSL was a no go, couldn't even get it that it was so bad.  In the end even the phone stopped working so we canceled our service and ...

General global warming / climate change discussion

26549 Funny thing is the government here are the biggest deniers of it and refuse to help renewable energy as they are heavily vested in coal. Yeah, not to rub it in or anything, but wasn't Malcolm Turnbull voted out of his position for Prime Minister of Australia because he proposed a mild form of...

just on the above few posts, In Australia health insurance is a joke, hardly anyone earning average amounts can afford it. But on the plus side the public health which is practically free is ok so even though the waiting lists are long it's still something. I heard in the US the pubic free health is...

Video games thread

A video I made of one of my fav old games NFS 5 aka Porsche 2000. driving the 935 in manual trans mode as I always do.  Great game as it was one of the first to try simulate real car physics which set it apart from all the other NFS games.  Driving these rear heavy cars is like balancing a plate on ...

I don't have a camera, but my mate's one is a cannon EOS 200d I am pretty sure.

We don't have all that much light pollution, except that night was moon and smoke from fires so it was polluted some.

yeah deep sky stacker is what I used. My friend is looking to get a tracker for low ISO high exposures to get better images in the first place.  Most pics here weren't more than 2 sec exposure on 25600 iso due to the narrow FOV on the 600mm lens.  Even with 2 sec there is smear.   Once a tracker is ...

I resized some of the ones I felt were the best shots. _MG_6149-rs.jpg _MG_6180-rs.jpg _MG_6204-rs.jpg _MG_6211-rs.jpg _MG_6231-rs.jpg _MG_6233-rs.jpg _MG_6235-rs.jpg One I tried stacking with reasonable success. It reduced the noise to nothing as far as I can see, lost a little detail but not much....

Apparently it won't be visible from Australia. Meant to happen after the moon has already set here.

Friend of mine came out last night with his camera gear and few differnt lenses. One being a 600mm tele lens. Just a learing curve on how to set it all up for astro photos. Feel free to look at them all.   There is a bunch of multiples here and there that can be stacked. He wants to get a tracker mo...

Yep it will work in pci 3.0. not much benefit at this stage. Maybe in the future when cards become a lot faster than they are already. Bios update I doubt will give the capability, it's mostly hardware level. Yeah for 16 core the tdp will be higher, no way around that. But 8 core vs the old 8 core t...

New boards will have PCIe 4.0 and few minor features.

Your existing board with bios update should support them just fine.

Radeon 7 will be fist week of Feb.  I think I might get one if reviews are ok.
