Why is Nvidia recommeded over AMD GPU's?

Well it depends on your application. For GPGPU computing its almost impossible to recommend anything but the AMD cards, hence why they are top choice for mining. For best of best top of the line graphics for gaming then the nvidia 1080 and 1080 Ti. I run an AMD FX with a GTX 980, both which are wate...

Scanning every star/planet in the SE universe?

Is there a reason why the star browser only seems to find results on the surface of the sphere its searching and rarely anything in the volume withing the search radius? For example. If I search for a certain type of object within 25 Ly I get a few certain results and nearly always they will be 20-2...

Recreation Image Dump

First attempt. Couldn't do much about the planet exposure as otherwise the rings wouldn't come close to this CGI imagine. Would be awesome with space craft models so I could put in Cassini in as well.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

I think you do. I looked up the specs and couldn't believe how slow it is and shocked as it's slow as a mid range cards from 2003 but made in 2010? I have a AGP card from 2003 that's almost 2.5 x as fast. I think you have 2 problems, its way too slow and the other is being a super low end card it wo...

Well technically they are now if you count the AMD Firepro, Radeon pro? and nVidia Quadro cards. I had a look at some of the Quadro cards and 24 and 32GB is standard on the higher end models. Same sort of specs for Radeon Pro cards too. Back in the day, pro and consumer versions didn't really differ...

What other games do you play?

Fairly regularly I play: UT99 GOTY edition UT2004 Universe sandbox2 SE Occasionally: NFS5 Red Faction (1st one) Rarely: UT4 pre-alpha ( Epic without warning abandoned it and it 99.99% dead now) F.E.A.R Games wanting to get once I upgrade my PC: Project cars 2, (Played the 1st one on my friends 7700K...

I'm considering the same, maybe going for the "1180 Ti".  Yeah the leaked specs are certainly just mainstream GPUs Price generally hasn't been an issue so I get what ever gets me 80-90% of the top product in performance while not spending double or whatever the premium for best of best, eg...

Well not really, much of the 08-13 was re-badge after re-badge. only 2 true generations existed then for nvidia. Radeon on the other hand at that period were flying with performance and innovation. Maxwell to early Pascal was the only decent period for nvdia since the original G80 from the geforce 8...

1080Ti is a pretty nice card. But I feel its pretty well dated and milked for what it is. Just wish they would released the new gen already, let alone a year ago when everyone was expecting it. Some info of the 1180 or 2080 series in Q3 to be launched, so until then I am holding off. Everything hard...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

I have a question. In HarbingerDawn's streams I noticed the ground/camera shaking when the camera was close to the ground. I thought that was interesting as someone mentioned it was a bug in the video chat. I tried this and could not replicate it. But as of a few days ago I am also now getting this ...

What's your favourite music in SE?

My top 10, funny thing is I quite like this 10 only and the rest I care little for.  I would say these are more inspiring music while the remaining music feels more like background ambient sound. That said these ones are pretty sweet and havn't heard this sort of awe inspiring music since the good o...
