Trouble with the 0.9.8.0e patch

Whenever using ships I the tiles on Earth flicker in and out and turn blue.  I have tried a number of ways to sort this out but to no avail... This does not happen with 0.9.8.0 for some reason. So I am unable to use the patch without that feature. the no patched version seems more stable

yeah the fine details seem like the biggie.. You can only import obj too right? and mtl doesn't support high detail texture?
