History of SpaceEngine

Messier, you can just rename it.  In my Alpha Centauri addon, I think its part of the Avatar addon but need to check, it has those planets still but renamed to proper exoplanet names.

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

28761 It's safer to say that we're the first species to utilise much of Earth's resources to build advanced, global civilisations. Which is what I was implying with my " as far as we can tell " remark. I am not making definitive statements, only statements based in the data that we have n...

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

28748 there are a host of species that could take on the mantle of Earth's dominant intelligent species in the next millions of years, after the proverbial dust settled and the ecosystem normalized. Blind speculation with no evidence to suggest they would. 28748 We cannot say for sure that we are t...

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

28740 and it takes two chances to jump over the Great Filter that lies ahead of us. Nothing of our civilization outside of some strange geologic anomalies will appear in the record and those could be explained through some very rare much more likely things in nature. So to burst your bubble, if a f...

More random planets, I think it is very close to done as just about every planet has natural tones and there is a wide range of variation including variations within planets with life. Few weeks well spent, planets now look like planets and not cartoons Couple of imgur galleries https://imgur.com/a/...

Planets with life palette overhaul for 0.9.9.0, this one is taking a very long time as there are many palettes and many types of planets these can apply to so getting them right is time consuming. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/558044858283982858/574399133771628544/SpaceEngine_2019-05-04_20-...

28675 Well they have. Don't let nvidia's flag planting make you think they own the tech Going to burst your bubble because AMD is NOT competing in that video. Ray tracing has been possible in screen spaced reflections and everything else shown in the RTX and DXR lineup for over a decade if not long...

28647 The potential for this is mind-blowing: Everyone knew ray tracing was the future, there are various types that can be done as well, but the problem was "how". Don't expect it to change anything until the next console generation or after though, we need mass market adoption and with ...

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

Silly video with lots of bias, we have enough desalination tech to heavily desalinate if we were ever forced into that situation.  Nanotech running away has happened before on Earth, its what life is, and it has hard physical limits on rate of reproduction and use of materials and manipulation of ma...

Spent the better part of the last week overhauling the palettes for planets for 0.9.9.0.  As the goal is realism I am trying to keep colors within given ranges for bodies, while factoring in a few odd balls here and there.  I think for the most part I have it down pretty well.  I have also fully ove...

I don't know why but this is one of the funniest things I have read on this forum. I'd say too far but it is a fictitious universe so the dark humor stands.
