This Christmas I finally got some money to buy spaceengine with... and I already have a problem.
When everything loads up, everything gets pixelized! and it flickers too which is really irritating.

Science and Astronomy Questions

30238 I can't really think of anything which could be called a physical property in any meaningful sense, and not be described in this way.  If it can't be described through quantitative relationships in principle, I would consider it unphysical and irrelevant.  At best, we may say there can be phy...

Science and Astronomy News

30226 I think it is a matter of realizing that the more one learns the more one realizes they have yet to learn.  I've found that to be true in scientific advancements that, although we know more than we used to know, that knowledge opens up a whole new plane and direction of learning where it make...

30224 The wisest humans are those who realize they know nothing. But the ones who are at least fairly confident in their sense of knowledge have an advantage, they have the strength to get somewhere in the advancement of science, and for me? I am not one of those people, and therefore do not have t...

Science and Astronomy Questions

Just a quick question about the values of mathematics (yet still a physics question). Are there mathematical descriptions for all physical properties? or are quantitative descriptions limited by how much they can present without the use of words. And what about qualitative descriptions? I feel that ...

Yes, this concludes the entropy saga. Thank you again WHN! i'll keep reading more and more about this, and all the other fields of physics, and maybe someday, be just as smart as you. :) Maybe...

29653 Another way that conversion to heat can increase the entropy is that the heat may be radiated to the environment, which increases the number of microstates since then there are photons to account for, or vibrations in surrounding molecules if the transfer involves conduction or convection. On...

29508 Not necessarily, and in fact this doesn't work with the expansion of the universe.  Let's look in a bit more detail. In some cases, such as gas expanding to fill its container, it is true that the expansion is associated with increasing entropy, and volume will appear in the expression for th...

Science and Astronomy Questions

29483 I have something that I cannot understand. Just after a Big Bang. The universe is very small and hot. It would reach thermodynamic equilibrium long long before today. One probable explanation is that the Universe spend most of its time in a Heat Death. However anything could happen in a very ...
