Ship Autopilot Improvements

Existing Auropilots in SE is still useful. Though I though they would need many improvements in long term. So I thought about this subject for a while and here's my suggestion. 1. Vertical speed hold On planetary surface flight, ships with hover engines can use this autopilot to help pilots adjust d...

In-game economy discussion

Space engineer posted basic game play concept and I though we may need deeper, detailed discussion on how economy will work in the game. So.... here's what I've thought on this topic. Please let me know what you thing about this. Player Income 1. Science Exploration Players can make profits by sendin...

Do you play ships?

SE uses simple analytical aerodynamics model with 11 numerical coefficients interpolated by splines. These coefficients are for MIG-29 (I think), taken from somewhere, it's impossible to remember the source now. The data tables are limited by the "forward" motion, ie attack angles in rang...

Totally off-topic thread

Lately Ive been thoroughly engrossed watching these extremely realistic physics simulations of car crashes. No one was harmed in the making of these videos except a few car manufactures' safety ratings. I hope to see Space Engine match these landscape renderings some day soon too. yIFlQu8o1sQ I wan...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

I have two issues with ship system. First thing is about heading indicator on hud. Heading indicator works fine when ship is level with ground. But the problem is when I give some bank. Heading indicator moves insanely and it indicates opposite direction when I give 180deg bank. As far as I know, th...

To the future, we can play whith Rovers on planets and exoplanets to experience the texture of terrains?

I would like to see drivable rovers and walking astronauts.

Wonderful. Now we need some procedural rocks for more realism and better visual.

How about 'Jovian' instead of 'Jupiter?'

We don't really have to care about translation problem. We already have hundreds of words in SE that doesn't have direct translation in Asian languages.

Strange sightings

Is it me, or has anyone found a Quasar? I found a Quasar while I was messing around with Space Engine. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/315302085073567754/352998677998075914/scr00026.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/315302085073567754/352998703461826562/scr00027.jpg https://cdn.disc...

Science and Astronomy Questions

Is is possible for winged spacecrafts to fly(or should I call this atmospheric surfing?) in gasgiant's thin upper atmosphere and come back to orbit safely again? This has been done on Mars. It's called aerobraking manouvre Yes I know what is aerobraking and have done this in Orbiter spaceflight sim...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

Suggestion about spacecraft flights on future versions. Will It be possible to make interactable 3d cockpit(with clickable switches, knobs, levers, touchscreens) for spacecrafts?
This should work really well with VR.
