Re: Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

0.990.45.1940 is not available to opt in as far as I know. What we can't know is what really happened because the se.log doesn't contain useful info about your hardware, graphics drivers and other possible issues. What I see from what you posted is that you did have already issues back in April wit...

Re: Video settings and recording

By using SpaceEngine in windowed mode, users can customize window pixels width and height, whose borders can be rendered off screen. This allows to people having only fullHD displays to capture higher resolutions. This is only limited by the available VRAM of the graphics card. But is there a way t...

Re: Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Success!  I finally got it to work!  It definitely is a Space Engine issue, and not a Steam issue!  I rolled back to the last beta, which is 1890 and it worked like a charm and launched immediately!  Now I just need to put all my files back lol.  Is there any way I could roll back to the 1940 versio...

Re: Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Deleting the cache folder didn't work.  I also did what the Steam support staff suggested and uninstall and reinstall Steam (first I moved the SteamApps folder to different folder so my mods wouldn't be deleted. I copied back that folder for the new install but Steam doesn't recognize it and told me...

Re: Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

As I surmised, there is no current se.log file, the one in that folder is from the last time SE ran correctly for me, which was on 4-29-2023 Here is the header and version number-- ever since the update things have gone haywire and it says Steam isn't running (even though it is.) Is this the entire...

Re: UFO Sightings and Possible Explanations

Okay so this has been all over the news lately-- some highly placed whistleblower sources too said to be "beyond reproach"-- what's going on here-- looks like a Congressional investigation is underway. https://thedebrief.org/intelligence-officials-say-u-s-has-retrieved-non-human-craft/ htt...

Re: Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Is there an se.log even if the program never starts because Steam blocks it saying I need to have Steam running (which I have running like it shows in the screenshot)?

Re: Science and Astronomy Questions

So in a sense the information that is emitted from the black hole is also "spaghettified" in that it's emitted over a very long period of time and in all directions.  So this isn't like a geological fossil record where you look at a specific layer to analyze  like, say, the dinosaurs that ...

Re: Asteroids, meteors, and meteorites

The Perseids hit at 59 km/s, the Leonids at 71 km/s.  This is fast, even for meteors.  These showers produce short-lived meteors, usually a fraction of a second (but when the radiant is low in the sky, long meteors perphaps lasting a second or even more might be seen).  On the other hand, these fas...

Re: Asteroids, meteors, and meteorites

Could one of these showers also produce meteorites? Not even a chance. The meteor velocity for both showers is far too high; they burn up completely at very high altitude. I'm wondering what I heard when I saw the Perseids.  I guess it could be a bolide.  I see a few fireballs almost every year wit...

Re: Science and Astronomy Questions

Wow this is very interesting-- from your other post I think you implied that it would be possible to unscramble the information but it's very impractical to do so, Wat?  Is there a way to calculate how much energy it would take to unscramble a given amount of information? Very impractical, indeed. ...

Re: Asteroids, meteors, and meteorites

Yes that is what was reported on the news, likely it was just a coincidence that it happened around the time of that meteor shower then? The amazing thing is that it actually landed inside a person's house, the odds of that happening must be incredibly low. Originally I thought maybe space junk, bu...

Re: Asteroids, meteors, and meteorites

The amazing thing is that it actually landed inside a person's house, the odds of that happening must be incredibly low. Quite low, but more than once. Many meteorites have been documented falling onto structures,  cars , and  even a mailbox . Meteorites that do this are sometimes called hammerston...

Re: Astrophotography

It's amazing this is happening now and when is solar max, Wat, is it close to the time of the solar eclipse next April?  It could be even more spectacular than normal! Yes, the corona looks much different for eclipses near solar max than near solar minimum. There are more active regions, and more c...
