UFO Sightings and Possible Explanations

25540 The ones that really interest me.... Mass sightings are interesting, but I do not think polices officers or pilots are less likely the to tell the truth, hallucinate or mistake something that they are unfamiliar with just because they are 'official' or a seemingly trust-worthy authority. The ...

Science and Astronomy News

Wat perhaps this belongs in the cosmology thread, but what do you think of the recent paper published about dark fluid as a way to unify dark matter and dark energy?  The authors say it is an elegant way to explain the accelerated expansion of the universe while also explaining how galaxies are held...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

JD I fixed it, since those were the only two addons I had recently added I just made a hunch and removed the addon that was inside a cluster (Nightfall), that reset the star cluster 47 Tucanae back to normal and I have my black hole binary system back again - with the same planets as before :-) Also...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

Yes and it's weird that only one star cluster would be affected.  I went to the 47 Tucanae star cluster and it's still there but the numbering is slightly different for the procedural stars and when I adjusted the number of the system I had found previously, I found a primary star of the exact same ...

UFO Sightings and Possible Explanations

25491 I have never seen an UFO. I suppose I do not have enough fantasy to see one. A pity, really. It's not quite a question of imagination Jack Dole , but rather being at the right place at the right time in an odd situation. Your mind sort of goes blank in the moment, but then later rationalizes ...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

Thanks Jack it worked!  A different issue now-- I installed your Krypton and Nightfall addons and it modified something but I dont know what or how.  Procedural stars not in clusters appear as normally, but the stars and planets I saved in the 47 Tucanae system including a really neat system with a ...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

I dont see a thread for this so I will ask it here- is there a way to cap fps on space engine?  I tried using Nvidia Inspector to do it, but it isn't working.  Does the program need to be running full screen in order to do this?  I also have Afterburner/RTSS in case I need to alter a setting there.

Wow that is pretty!  I wonder if we can use SE to discover new craters on the planet, like some have used Google Earth.  In default mode you cant see any of that near where the Grand Canyon is supposed to be?

25449 How much of a difference do you see on earth landscapes going from default to ultra? That seems like a pretty big difference!  Can structures like the Grand Canyon and volcanoes and forests be seen too, JD? It's just hard for me to download all those files, it would be much easier if it was a...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

25446 The thing is i'd like to see some difference at all but i still cant. As I said, the textures of Io, the original and the HD, both have the same level of detail. They are both 8 megabytes in size. The difference is only in the image format. The original textures are '.jpg' (compression with q...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

25385 I downloaded IO moon textures. Saved them to: "addons/solarsysHD" The Io textures are a bad example. They contain only one layer, as well as the original textures. (If you go very close to the surface, you can see a small difference, but whether the HD textures are better is probabl...

The ones with sound are called bolides I think.

I've even heard of sounds reported (rarely) with Northern Lights!  Hissing and popping sounds.

Population Growth and Sustainable Development

Ahh, yes. "Time Enough at last" was only name I could remember, but truth be told I was never disappointed by a Zone episode. More importantly, it was perhaps something that could never truly be re-created. Multiple re-makes have tried, but they never really caught the feel of the origina...
