Coronavirus (COVID-19) Thread

36287 but only about 1 in a million Far more than that for AZ in Norway.  It was stopped after about 130k doses and several cases of a combination of blood clots and low platelet counts, three of which were fatal.  Milder side effects like hemorrhages and bleeding also seem to be tenfolds higher wi...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

This is a question about settings, but I dont see a settings thread so I will post it here since it also has to do with lag and the program sometimes randomly quitting on me. I want to ask a question about settings....under display, where you can choose cubemaps, I see an option for setting the reso...

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Thread

The mRNA vaccine is in me. I like xkcd's explanation of how it works. Also "definitely feeling a little sore" is right. An ibuprofen helps. https://i.imgur.com/rek4Wm7.png Wat, is your second dose scheduled for 28 days from now?  I have heard that's the one where the soreness really sets ...

36277 Vaccines for all age groups 16+ across most of the US Apparently, Trump did a much better job than the politicians in European countries regarding vaccines.  Here, the vaccination of the 85+ group started in January, and now three months later >85% of the 75+ group have at least one shot and ...

I want to ask a question about settings....under display, where you can choose cubemaps, I see an option for setting the resolution of three things.  Mine go all the way up to 4096 and I had it set that way and then I'd go into cubemaps and save cubemap jpgs as 4096.  But I noticed setting them to 1...

SE 0.990 and OBS

SE requires more memory than it did before with the new updates....16 GB wont be enough.  16 GB with 8 GB virtual wont even be enough, I have 32 GB on standby I'm using that now and I also set my virtual at 128 GB....otherwise I couldn't run SE with two browsers with multiple tabs (like...

Space engine will not display past loading screens

confirmed that this is a memory issue, I stuck with 16GB RAM (will keep the 32 GB RAM on standby until I really need it).....just changed the virtual memory from 8 GB to 96 GB (32 GB on my NVME m.2 SSD and 64 GB on my mechanical hard drive) and have no issues whatsoever now, I can do 4K cubemaps wit...

I have similar specs to yours and I have zero lag with OBS and have been making movies over 2 hrs long and ultra settings on SE.  I suggest lowering the resolution of your SE window to 720P

Science and Astronomy Questions

36262 Wat, could it be that similar structures are due to being acted on by the same forces?  Like gravity and/or the electromagnetic force?  Both are long range forces that decrease proportionately with distance squared. The closest I can think of are filaments of plasma in certain discharges, but...

https://phys.org/news/2020-11-human-brain-resemble-universe.html Nice that people have done scientific studies on this across a wide range of fields, an argument I use against specialization and a more wholistic connected approach to science. The encouraging results of this pilot study are prompting...

Science and Astronomy Questions

36247 The universe's cosmological structure seems to resemble that of the human brain. FFT does a nice job explaining the problems of the cosmic web structure acting as a brain, so I like to focus on the idea of them appearing similar. Sometimes very different processes leads to structures that res...

Science and Astronomy Questions

36247 Could the universe then conceivably be a brain for some much higher being? That's a cool idea, but the speed of light limit would make any transmission between the computational elements of this brain so slow that not even a single though could be made. Brains need to be compact, that's almos...
