Coronavirus (COVID-19) Thread

Norway just removed all restrictions despite the new cases numbers currently being close to the highest during the entire pandemic (~200 per 100,000 nationwide last 14 days, ~500 in the capital).  The crowds are back.  The situation is still being monitored with public testing still being offered, ...

A Tunguska sized airburst destroyed Tall el-Hammam a Middle Bronze Age city in the Jordan Valley near the Dead Sea Holy *** this is an amazing discovery, and the study seems extremely thorough. Will have to wait for tomorrow to read through it all, but looking forward to it. air burst so it means t...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Nice you're running it at 4K resolution?  I have the 1060 6 GB graphics card so I think it's the same as yours, I'm just still running the 2700X CPU but getting the 5950X for my birthday this week.  How much RAM do you have and do you run it on Ultra preset?  I'm using 16 GB RAM but I have an addit...

Wow I would love to see a large galaxy collection in SE that was like the GAIA database and on the scale of the PGC database or even larger!

A Note About Eventual Mac Compatibility

also I dont believe you can custom build a Mac either.

I wouldn't mind doing a custom build of a system with Linux as the OS though.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Ok, I just got it working.  I have a dual monitor setup with a 4k as my main monitor and a 1920x1200 as my secondary.  I guess the last time I used Space Engine, I had it on my secondary monitor as that's where it kept trying to open.  But, as I mentioned, it just remained blank and Not Responding ...

General questions about SpaceEngine

37889 No Mans Sky made the universe much smaller and proportions comical just to avoid boring their users with the mind-bending real scale of things in nature. Real scale or not, not a lot would change - the biggest difference between NMS planets is the skin and roughness of the terrain. Outer Wild...

General questions about SpaceEngine

37857 is this game going to be a full scale representation of the universe? (not like no mans sky) SpaceEngine reached that goal several years ago. It has a similar number of Galaxies of that of the real universe. Each with a realistic number of stars and planets. Everything scaled and located real...

37883 One thing I wanted to ask--  I was reading  about the far future "collision" between M31 and our galaxy resulting in a giant elliptical galaxy (like M87) in the far future- are the supermassive black holes of both galaxies going to collide or is one just expected to absorb the other...

Right, I'm now wanting both an accelerator curve and a boost exponent curve function.  This is what I mean....first for accelerator curve..... a way to create a custom curve function for the accelerator to gradually increase speed while within the host galaxy to leisurely see all the sights and to r...

It's fascinating how the entire intuitive concept of time and contemporaneity falls apart.  Once crossing the horizon, we can still see the spaceship and the universe, but we've detached from that universe which in one sense is expired and gone. you might be even more right than you think if black ...

I never believed that space and time were fundamental in the first place mid, neither really exists at the fundamental quantum level and black holes are awesome as being macro representations of quantum particles, I think.  In reality black holes represent the unification of the macro with the micro...
