Science and Astronomy Questions

Wow thats interesting, I thought that the slower something moves the more prone it is to falling down to earth.  I guess I thought that way because that is my experience with airplanes :P  I thought the moon moving more quickly meant that its faster movement was counteracting the earth's gravity and...

Science and Astronomy Questions

What evidence do we have that the moon is actually moving further away from the Earth?  Logically, shouldn't it be moving closer since gravity is an attractive force and tidal forces should be slowing down the moon's revolution and causing it to get closer with time?

Intergalactic stars!

I've added 46 new "interstellar stars" to the addon. Now there are 74 catalogued stars around the Milky Way, 25 of them beyond 400.000 light years in distance. This is still a small number, but it has been predicted that thousands of them might be discovered in the first 3 years of LSST s...

SpaceEngine TODO

Now that we are having texture updates for the Solar System I would like to remind about an old discussion we had on the possibility to extend the level of detail further and further. If I recall correctly SpaceEngineer thought of a solution, similar to that of Google Earth, involving the centraliz...

A very PC discussion

Is it a good idea to upgrade from a 1060 6 GB to a 2060 6 GB?  The speed increase doesn't matter too much to me, I want a version with 2 DVI ports.  I have one of the few 1060 that had 2 DVI (Gigabyte) and I am wondering if there is a 2060 that has them too? I have HDMI->DVI adapters but I dont real...

Indeed- love the colors!

and wow, you have a lot of light pollution (in the phone shot), ISO 1600 at 15 sec is too much, try ISO 400 at 15 sec and f/3.5

31324 Would living on a planet with a brighter moon or more moons be of much harm to humans, or would it affect us in negative ways? Not really. Humans would need to adjust to the new brightness at night. Sleep disruption would be a factor, but this is easily remedied by being indoors. We forget th...

Wow. I really wish I had darker skies. That looks amazing. I've never even seen the milky way in my life. Darkest skies I've ever been under and actually looked up was somewhere around Bortle 6. I've been in a Bortle 1 area a few years ago during a camping trip, but I was too tired to look up and w...
