Sci-Fi (and other genre) Movies & TV Series

it's in between seasons - it's had two seasons, I think the third is coming soon?

Sci-Fi (and other genre) Movies & TV Series

One series I'd recommend is a parody of Star Trek that was created (I cant remember the name right now) where the travelers journeyed through a 2D universe.  He did a surprisingly scientific computer simulation and explanation of how it would be possible to do this by creating a "bubble" ...

Celestia Origin is nothing to do with Space Engine - why they decided to make rings look a certain way is up to them. They're done realistically in SE though.

Sci-Fi (and other genre) Movies & TV Series

Is the Wandering Earth worth watching?  It was certainly ok for killing a couple of hours of an 11 hour flight.  Acting was good in the sense that they were able to deliver the lines with a straight face. It's completely bonkers and ridiculous as heck (moreso than 2012, which is saying something), ...

could something like fog be used to simulate the effect of smaller particles? we don't really need to model every particle down to the centimetre scale (and smaller) here!

Sounds like another good reason to keep the rings as thin as possible  (10-20m rather than 100s-1000s of m)

https://www.space.com/48-saturn-the-solar-systems-major-ring-bearer.html that says they're usually about 10m thick, in some places where they're disrupted they get thicker. I think most current estimates tend towards the 10-20m thick range rather than the 100m-km range anyway. And certainly for the ...

(if that's a typical Federation ship then the rings should be more like the t...

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Thread

Why the hell are people still travelling to and from anywhere at all though? Who the hell does that in the middle of a pandemic, and to add insult to injury, who doesn't isolate themselves for 14 days at both ends anyway? I swear this is pandemic is really revealing who the sociopathic maniacs our s...

Rebuilding the Universe?

try this (make sure you back up everything first!): http://forum.spaceengine.org/viewtopic. ... 03&p=32717

(I guess if you want to keep the solar system as is then don't edit that file as I described)

Script to find distances between one world and others?

At least that first option agrees with what Space Engine says so that's good. But yeah unfortunately without a list that's no use to me.

Script to find distances between one world and others?

yeah i'm basically doing that. I want to get the distances of all the planets relative to eachother on certain dates, and clicking them all or typing names in is too tedious! I was just hoping there was a way for a script to just display the distances for all of them at once directly on the screen a...

Script to find distances between one world and others?

OK thanks - that seems a bit too fiddly for me though (the view is harder to control and it's full of asteroids). So far I'm just going to the object I want distances from and bringing up the solar system display at the top and clicking on each planet there and writing down the distances. I was just...

Script to find distances between one world and others?

is there any way to make a script in SE that shows (or better still, outputs) the distance between planets in a system at a certain time (e.g. the date the in-game clock is currently set at)? e.g. if I want to know how far Jupiter is from Sol, Earth, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune on a specific date? C...
