SpaceEngine TODO

Any update or bug fix is great and I have enthusiastically jumped into the beta, but what I'd really love to see next is volumetric clouds. I know I am daydreaming now, but given a few more years of hardware development, I'd love to see waves crashing on the shores, storms, caves and even some proce...

Work progress 0.991

I dont know how to access the beta, the instructions to right click on Space Engine in the Steam client did not work for me, no beta tab popped up. Are you sure you are right-clicking the correct thing? In your library tab in Steam, there is a list of your games in a panel to the left. It's there t...

Propulsion Disk , offering the software at a discounted rate may result in less money overall, but not necessarily. This is because a lower price can represent an incentive to buy for persons who otherwise would not have considered doing so in the first place. And secondly, offering it for pre-orde...

SpaceEngineer : I don't know if this has been suggested before, or if it's even possible with Steam, but have you considered offering the software for pre-order at a discounted rate? I don't want to sound like I'm unwilling to pay its full price (because I am convinced it will be well worth it!), b...

Unrealistic stars.

I'm not sure there is a thread for reporting erroneous catalog stars, but I remember seeing something like it before. I was flying out of the Milky Way when whizz goes a very bright star by me. I click on it and, lo and behold, it's a red dwarf - with an absolute magnitude of -3.13 and a 2.23 AU dia...

Aborygen , these are really spectacular, especially the one from 26 December. Do you have a high resolution of it? Here are two of mine. With a PC that can take some amount of punishment, I pushed the limits a bit and managed some pretty detailed shots. https://thumb.ibb.co/bYc4rb/scr00000a.jpg htt...

I'd like to add your image to the 2017 eclipse thread if you don't mind.
I'm honoured, go right ahead. I had not seen that thread before.

As I promised earlier, I'm posting an image of the solar eclipse from 21 August 2017. This is a composite image of the solar corona, comprised of 17 shots varying in exposure from 1/1000s to 1/2s. F-stop and ISO constant at f/8 and 100, respectively. I used a Canon EOS 60D with a Soligor 400mm f/6.3...

Do you learn with SE & its community?

Mosfet , I agree with you about 'breathing astronomy' with this software, that's why I love it. What I also forgot to mention - in regards to what you can learn with SE - is the spacecraft simulation and its painful realism. It destroys all your preconceptions about space flight that you might have...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

John Wain: 17019 In the same vein and in conjunction with the above, distance cutoffs would be great. It would allow users to only render stars/galaxies up to a certain distance, so that they could simply explore a region of space with no regard for the rest. Rendering could be done continuously as...

Do you learn with SE & its community?

How many known stars and their positions are represented in SE? I'm sure there's an answer for that somewhere in the documentation for SE, but I don't remember now. However, I'd take this opportunity to quip in. I have a friend who's a teacher and I recommended SE to him as a wonderful tool to teac...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

PlutonianEmpire, I like the idea of playing remotely. But I think it would be quite difficult to control the movement, you'd still need controls adapted for touchscreen use.

0.981's nebula effect reminds me of Elite: Dangerous ...

I'm not sure which one I like better from the two images - but then again, the image from SE is pretty old, I think the rendering will only get better.

As for other types of stars, I think there's room for improvement, but we have a lot to enjoy already.

This sure is great news, I'm always waiting with anticipation for whatever updates and upgrades there may be on this stunning software.

Midtskogen, cool photos. I've also photographed the total solar eclipse in Oregon, but I'll wait until I get more posts in order to be able to post the image.
