Strange sightings

Not the strangest thing here, but still an oddball. This terra with life is an irregular moon with a 1:3 spin-orbit resonance.

Can My PC Run SpaceEngine?

Since 0.9.9.0 has more rigorous graphics card requirements (considering that 1.0 GB is "catastrophically low"), is it dedicated video memory or total available graphics memory that matters?

General 0.990 Discussion

Hey, iirc, last year we got a sort of "Christmas present" post describing what was being done for SE. Would such a thing be possible this year, or is it mostly just technical stuff and bugfixes at this point?

Planets with potentially breathable atmospheres

The CO[sub]2[/sub]levels are also quite toxic.

Planets with potentially breathable atmospheres

In respiration we oxidize substances, but if it there was a way of respiration that uses reduction, so CO2 could be used as a fuel, even if the organism lives in an oxidized environment? With this we could have a planet that most of it's atmosphere is CO2, so the organisms will have plenty of fuel ...

Work progress 0.9.8.1 = 0.9.9.0

I dont know if a premature release will be good. all this waiting actually is producing something that is worth it.
I don't know. I love what the previews show. Even if certain terrain updates aren't fully implemented, 9.9.0 will be great.

Planets with potentially breathable atmospheres

I've found a couple cool low pressure high oxygen worlds, RS 8474-253-8-15053162-512 3, RSC 8474-1192-4-2250-24 3, RS 8474-1792-8-9448635-211 4, and HIP 11337 5.4. Although I am using a couple visual mods, a bunch of ship mods, and a couple planet addition mod, but I don't think those would change ...

Anomalous Brown Dwarf planets temperatures

I suspect it's some sort of anomalous tidal heating. That's still a little buggy in this version as I understand. I had a similar problem when I tried to make a ternary planet-moon system.

Apparently Cassini got pictures of ringshine on Saturn not long before the end of its mission.

SpaceEngine TODO

The number one thing I'm looking forward to is ringshine. When that is implemented, will rings also be included in calculating the apparent magnitude of a planet?

Where are the extremely supermassive black holes?

I know that every galaxy in SE has a supermassive black hole at its center. So far the most massive black holes I've found are about 5*10[sup]8[/sup] solar masses. I know that some central black holes in the real universe can exceed 10[sup]9[/sup] and even 10[sup]10[/sup] solar masses, but I have no...

Image editing software and custom ring textures

I figured it might not have to do with SE specifically. It's interesting since the catalog rings are in png format. IIRC the ring texture files I made are edited copies of Chariklo's ring file.

Image editing software and custom ring textures

I found an odd bug a while ago when I created ring textures for some of the planets I made: the gaps in the rings were not displaying properly when lit from behind. Even when tried to make doubly sure that that part of the texture was transparent, it would not appear properly. I had originally made ...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

Another thing I'd like to see is the ability to export ring textures. I know you can export the general parameters such as radii and brightness, but it doesn't capture the color or distribution of gaps. I know you can create your own files (I simply copied and edited Saturn's rings from the catalog)...
