Total Solar Eclipse 2017

12160 What was the focal length used? 250mm, of course. 12171 I've been hearing lots of reports about people crying and being overwhelmed with emotions during totality. I was a bit surprised by how little the totality affected me emotionally. It was cool and all, but... I don't know, I guess since ...

Total Solar Eclipse 2017

Ok, I couldn't wait until I got home, so I tried to do that "really great" thing I promised while still on the road.

Rough HDR composite of the solar corona!

Total Solar Eclipse 2017

Did some preliminary photo processing, here are a few sample shots (I plan to do something really great when I finally get home). Total Solar Eclipse 2017

I just returned to my hotel from viewing the eclipse in Madisonville, Tennessee. Sky was clear and eclipse was visible the whole time. Very nice experience, except for the extreme heat. Once the moon started blocking the sun though it got better :) Will post pictures whenever I process them, some wi...

Check your black hole quality settings in the graphics options and make sure it's high enough.

Total Solar Eclipse 2017

Today I drove to Tennessee from Connecticut, and already the traffic was formidable. Sunday and Monday are going to be apocalyptic. I'm spending the night in the path of totality, near where I plan to view the eclipse, though I'll be basing myself out of Chattanooga on Monday.

Based on everything that I have heard, and all the research that I have done, the use of violence is a central theme in the antifa movement. The Department of Homeland Security in the US state of New Jersey actually considers antifa to be a terrorist movement.

I never said I dislike all antifa members, I said I have a problem with the antifa movement because of its association with violence. Just like I have a problem with Christianity, but not all Christians; Islam, but not all Muslims, and so on. You are confusing ideology with people.

Just because not every member of group [x] advocates for the bad things that exist in group [x]'s ideology doesn't mean that those bad things aren't there, and doesn't mean that I have to like group [x].

11665 But you need to look at where the violence started. Kids argue that way. People marching in the streets promoting ridiculous ideas, whether political or religious, deserve ridicule, not equally ridiculous counter protests.  People should just laugh and ignore. That's not far off from what I'm...
