Re: Work progress 0.991

Thanks, will I need to upgrade my graphics card to use it, or should GT 1060 and up be just fine for it? I was looking into my user settings and I see I have graphics memory set to 4 GB although I have a 6 GB graphics card and a 1080P screen (actually two of them).  Should I increase the user setti...

Re: Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

The 7950x processor is better-- you should upgrade. Not really appropriate to tell someone in this thread to buy a top of the line piece of hardware, especially one that costs almost $600 when people do just fine with hardware from 5 years ago. The issue pointed out is more graphics driver related ...

Re: A very PC discussion

am i reading that correctly? 25055 points on 3dmark?
Yes, that was with a higher OC though I don't plan to run the card to such a degree given the issues with the power connector others are having with higher power draw.

Re: Our beautiful planet Earth: Voyages & Journeys

Surprised we didn't have a thread for this already, reminds me I still need to process my Washington DC pictures from my trip with Antza and Harb.

Re: Future of space engine

As was discussed during the last Q&A event the next focus we will be moving into once GR goes to the main build is shadows, they will definitely be required for volumetric clouds.

Re: Image Dump

https://imgur.com/a/vWYuhgD Doc, is there a wormholegate add on somewhere on Steam? It would be interesting if we put the Penrose diagrams for Kerr black holes in SE!  What an experience that would be. When the GR update goes live I will be posting some wormhole test setups that we have used during...

I have played with my own bots, connected them to various networks, if people knew how far along we are I doubt many would "sleep well at night".

Re: The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

This kind of thing was predicted even in Star Trek with holodeck requests, while that was scifi the inevitable outcome of such things will be ultra high def realistic visuals, artistic images, and it will inevitably tie into voice creation, 3D models, to the point AI will most likely be able to gene...

Re: Physical simulation of the space engine

Given the size of the ship, the tidal forces around the bubble in some areas may be severe, but generally if it functions like White suggests, pulses that soften space, then it would just displace objects not rip them apart.  Under the original Alcubierre notion of a very clean sharp bubble, that wo...

Re: Physical simulation of the space engine

About a year ago, I asked a question regarding what goes into the gravitational lensing (specifically around the black holes) we see in spaceengine and got some helpful answers.  Now I return with another lensing question!  What goes into the warp drive lensing effect we see in the simulation?  I'v...

Re: How would Space Engine look if everything was ray traced?

It is not supported directly, though you can mount OpenGL in Vulkan and render that way, similar to how Crysis remaster pulled theirs off, but there is a huge performance hit even when done well.
